Center Viacheslav Kravtsov signed a multi-year deal with the Pistons. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it was expected to be a $2 million deal. Kravtsov, who will be 25 next season, averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks playing in the Ukrainian Superleague last season. The Pistons view Kravtsov as a 15- to 20-minute player who can be their defensive anchor on the second unit. With the Pistons over the salary cap, Kravtsov is a more cost-effective pickup compared to a veteran NBA free agent such as Chris Kaman, whom the Pistons were expected to pursue. "We are pleased to add Viacheslav Kravtsov to our roster and welcome him to the organization," said Joe Dumars, Pistons President of Basketball Operations. "He's a young player with good size, rebounding and shot-blocking ability. He will provide us with some quality depth at the center position."

Looking at the Pistons potential Big Three

With the creation of the Big Three in Boston of Garnett, Pierce and Allen the idea of putting three ‘stars’ together on the same team has become the goal of most teams in the league. Now the Big Three can be created via trades/free agency like Miami and Boston or through the draft like in Oklahoma City.  Without much assets or cap space (or talent) the Pistons went the way...

Pistons sign Ukrainian center Kravtsov

The Detroit Pistons have added Vyacheslav Kravtsov with a multiyear contract. The team announced the signing Saturday after saying this month that it planned to sign the 24-year-old Ukrainian center. Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars says Kravtsov has good rebounding and shot-blocking ability. The 6-foot-11 Kravtsov has played for the Ukrainian national team...

Big Ben return rumors pick up steam

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The rumors have started getting louder on Twitter. No, not the ones about anyone's love life. The rumor that Ben Wallace is going to come back to the Pistons for the 2012-13 season. The reports aren't surprising -- even during the celebrations at what was supposed to be Big Ben's final home game, it was obvious that there were people trying to...

Kravtsov signs with Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have signed free-agent center Viacheslav Kravtsov to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Kravtsov, who turns 25 next month, got his only North American exposure when he played for the Celtics summer-league team in 2010. He spent last season with league champion BC Donetsk of the Ukranian Superleague, averaging 10...

Chris Kaman tweets picture of dead rodent on Twitter (Picture)

One of the strangest individuals on Twitter has to be newly-acquired Dallas Mavericks center Chris Kaman.Earlier today, Chris sent out this Tweet to the world of a dead animal he found near his gym:  I'm going to send the crack staff at TNLP to figure that out and if you want more Chris Kaman TwitPic gems, here are photos of his huge truck and him sitting on a huge bicycle: ...

Mavs reload with Brand, Kaman, Collison... and cap space

The Dallas Mavericks faced a lot of criticism in the year after winning the NBA championship in 2011. Dallas let defensive linchpin Tyson Chandler take a lucrative offer with the Knicks and declined to negotiate a long-term extension with Jason Terry (now taking off for the Celtics). It seemed the Mavericks were content with getting a year older, losing out on their title defense...

Mavs making progress in recovery process

One of the darkest periods in the history of the Dallas Mavericks has been interrupted with a dash of good news. After being staggered by Deron Williams' decision to remain with the Brooklyn Nets, the Mavs provided fans with their first glimpse at the recovery process. And as far as good omens go, you could do a lot worse than landing an ex-Hornet center. The Mavs signed former...
