Greg Monroe is a pretty good player, but he’s not Andre Drummond and doesn’t ooze potential on a daily basis.
That reason alone is why Monroe won’t receive the big money extension that others in his draft class have already gotten according to the Detroit Free Press.
Under the new CBA, NBA teams can only have one five-year designated player, and all signs point to that player being Andre Drummond in 2015-16.
The Pistons reportedly still consider Monroe a huge part of their rebuilding effort, but the circumstances suggest the team would be better off letting the season play out.
The Pistons can now see how things play out, and either extend Monroe next fall, or package him in a trade if they determine he doesn’t fit with Drummond and Josh Smith.

The Detroit Pistons drafted center Greg Monroe with the 7th overall pick back in the 2010 NBA draft, and 3 years later, the Pistons aren’t looking likely to hang on to Monroe. At least not according to recent reports that say he is unlikely to get a contract extension until after this season, if at all.
Monroe has gotten better every season, averaging 16.0 points per game and 9...
There’s a reason why you haven’t heard a lot about Greg Monroe’s contract situation — there’s nothing to report.
It’s highly likely that the fourth-year power forward won’t receive a contract extension from the Pistons before the Halloween deadline meaning Monroe will be a restricted free agent next off-season.
But don’t misunderstand the move. At this point the...
So far this preseason Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has shot the rock like Tim Tebow throws the football.
His shooting percentage looks a lot like Buzz’s girlfriend in Home Alone…WOOF!
To say KCP has struggled shooting so far this preseason is an understatement. Through five contests he has shot an atrocious 25.4 percent from the field (14-55) and 19 percent from downtown (4-21)....
It was announced Tuesday that Pistons’ newcomer Brandon Jennings will miss three weeks because of an impacted wisdom tooth. If this is the case, Jennings will more than likely miss the start of the Pistons’ season.
This is a blow to the Pistons and Jennings who needed to use the preseason as a means of gaining on court continuity. The team could have used these early preseason...
Yet another blow to the Detriot Pistons back court. The team announced that point guard Brandon Jennings will be out at least three weeks because of an impacted wisdom tooth and hairline fracture of the jawbone at the base of the tooth.
The first blow the Pistons backcourt recived was when Rodney Stuckey suffered a broken right thumb when he caught his hand in the door jamb of...

Derrick Rose issued the kind of warning after Wednesday night's preseason win against the Detroit Pistons that is sure to make players and coaches around the NBA take notice.
"I think I'm way more explosive now" Rose said after scoring 22 points in 22 minutes. "Like getting to the rim. I think I can take contact a little bit better. And as far as jumping-wise...
Detroit Pistons: Dumars Should Have Saved His Money for Greg Monroe
By Josh Morgan: Hoopstuff Senior Writer…
At one time or another we have all been told to save our money to wait to buy something that we truly want or may need someday. This may be easier said than done for some people, myself included, as we all want that shiny new toy, even if it may not be something you will...

When the Detroit Pistons hired Mo Cheeks to replace Lawrence Frank in Motown, they already knew Cheeks has had some character questioning issues in the past. In early September, just three months after his hire, Cheeks was questioned by police in what was believed to be a domestic dispute, but was never charged. Details have emerged, thanks to the Freedom...

Well, it appears that Andre posted the official photobomb on his Instagram account and it is pretty darn cute:
