A battle of the titans tonight as the Detroit Piston’s (2-8) come to the Bradley Center for a tilt with the Milwaukee Bucks (3-6).

Detroit has become the new Toronto – the place where players go and then are never heard from again. Case in point, Ben Gordon. He plays for Detroit now. Remember when he was on the Bulls and kind of relevant. Well not anymore. He is in Detroit. Detroit might be even more lackluster than the Bucks. Might be. Wait until you see their starting line-up (they do have some injuries). Bucks are coming off a victory over the Spurs – don’t be too impressed, Ginobli is out, and the Twolves even beat the Spurs. Spurs are old.

Let’s take a look at the matchups:

1. Brandon Knight v Brandon Jennings (PG)

Battle of the Brandon’s here, so this is sure to be exciting. These guys are point guards, so they are supposed to distribute. Knight averages 2.8 assists, and Jennings averages 5.4 assists.

Advantage: Player formerly known as the Branchise

2. Ben Gordon v Carlos Delfino (SG)

These guys are supposed to shoot. Delfino averages 8.5 and shoots 44.2%. Gordon averages 15 and shoots 42%. Ben Gordon was born in London, England. Did not know that.

Advantage: Ben Gordon

3. Tayshaun Prince v Stephen Jackson (SF)

This is a battle of two guys that I am not a fan of. Don’t like either of their games. Both have old man, open gym type games. Which I can appreciate, but not when watching NBA action. Tayshaun looks like a praying mantis, which is annoying.

Advantage: Stephen Jackson

The Mantis in action.

The Mantis, passive state.

4. Jonas Jerebko v Ersan Ilyasova (PF)

Wow, say both of these names fast, and it will kind of feel like you are having a seizure or something. Jerebko is from Sweden. Ilyasova is from Turkey. Turkey has been in some conflicts over the years. Sweden has stayed out of it. Tempted to go with the more aggressive nation, but Jerebko averages more points and rebounds – despite the passive nature of his country. Impressive.

Advantage: The Swede, Jerebko

5. Greg Monroe v Andrew Bogut (C)

I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard of Greg Monroe. Not sure how that is possible. I follow the Big East, and he went to Georgetown, and was drafted as the 7th overall pick in 2010. Must have forgotten about him – probably because he went to Detroit. He’s averaging 15 points, and almost 9 boards, so pretty solid. Bogut is back from the Outback, and put up 14 and 11. Bogut should be able to handle this mysterious Monroe fellow. Plus, I’ve never forgotten who Bogut was since his glorious days at Utah.

Advantage: Bogut

BUCKS WIN.

Here, for your enjoyment, is a comical picture of a bear getting a nut squeeze while dunking.
