Bush League Chronicle:
While the NBA lockout has left some players temporarily out of a job, that's not the case for Dallas Mavericks guard Rudy Fernandez. The Spaniard is currently spending the lockout with Real Madrid -- where in a recent game he pulled off one of the luckiest shots of the year.Watch as Fernandez pump fakes, draws the defender in the air, gets fouled and chucks up an unlikely 3-point shot attempt....and nets it.

Due to the NBA lockout, we are basketball starved. We have to make do with YouTube clips of games in a faraway land. This clip shows Rudy Fernandez hitting an impossible shot. Check out the Rudy Fernandez video below.
As you can see in the video, Rudy Fernandez goes around a triple screen and then catches the ball on the perimeter. He gives the trailing defender a fake and gets him...
Rudy Fernandez (Dallas Mavericks), well known for his dramatic antics on the court (think dunking on Dwight Howard in international play, behind-the-back passes from out-of-bounds and three goggles after huge threes) is currently doing his thing over in Spain. Whilst the NBA lockout is in progress, the Spanish guard is playing for Real Madrid in the highly competitive ACB league...
With the NBA lockout still under lock and key, some NBA players have taken to Europe to play some ball.
Former Portland Trail Blazer Rudy Fernandez is currently playing with Real Madrid and in a recent game, hit this improbable three point shot:

Rudy Fernandez has been a frustrating player in his three-year NBA career. He came to Portland after the 2008 Olympics with big expectations and for some time looked entirely capable of meeting them. Then he started complaining about playing time, hinted at making a move back to Spain, and found himself traded to the Dallas Mavericks this June. The headaches seem worth the trouble...
Here’s an early entrant into any unofficial “ACB Play of the Year” contest. In what would otherwise merely appear as a single-line entry in play-by-play writeups amidst Real Madrid’s 20th consecutive regular-season victory, an 81-67 victory over Blusens Monbus, Rudy Fernandez hit a “canasta imposible” in the third quarter for three points plus a foul drawn.
This is why I love Rudy Fernandez. (And check out full highlights from the game after the jump.) What’s the craziest three-pointer you’ve ever seen? Follow Aron on Twitter at @the_real_aron. Follow Dime on Twitter at @DimeMag. Become a fan of Dime Magazine on Facebook HERE.
Mavericks swingman Rudy Fernandez is currently hooping for Real Madrid, and during a recent tilt he somehow found a way to hit this absolutely ridiculous trey. Impressive stuff. (H/T: I am a GM)
The crazy thing is the shot didn’t even count (watch the ref waive it off right after the shot). And the ref is right, Rudy Fernandez pops out for the catch and shoot, pump fakes, draws the foul and then starts his shooting motion. He might have gotten the call in the NBA, but not…
The odds of Rudy Fernandez hitting this crazy shot again is a million to one. Too bad it didn’t count. If Mark Cuban could comment on this shot without getting fined due to those wacky lockout rules, he’d say “OHHHHH!” So I’ll say it on his behalf. So “OHHHHH!”
Real Madrid is stacking up quite a team. They have Rudy Fernandez and just added Serge Ibaka to a lineup that is already one of the best in Europe. And now they are going to make a run at Spain’s own Marc Gasol, too. Here is the report from Sportando. According to Marca, Real Madrid…
