Tony Parker, who recently missed about three weeks with an ankle sprain, was pulled from Thursday’s game against the Thunder early in the fourth quarter due to an unidentified leg injury. Gregg Popovich thinks Parker has tendinitis in his shin and is very concerned about his All-Star point guard. After learning Manu Ginobili would miss three-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury, another major injury to the team’s big 3 would be detrimental to the top-seeded Spurs heading into the postseason. According to Jeff Caplan, NBA.com: “I’m really concerned about Tony right now after seeing his situation tonight where he just had to stop,” Popovich said. “My feeling is tendinitis, something in his shins or whatever, from the way it looked on the court. But I don’t know.

Parker's latest injury a concern for Popovich

A struggling San Antonio Spurs team watched their season-long lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder dissipate to a half-game margin to control the top seed in the Western Conference.  But the top seed, no matter how advantageous it may be to secure, has never been the aim of the Spurs or their head coach Gregg Popovich.    There is enough respect in all eight eventual...

Gregg Popovich Spars with Craig Sager

Gregg Popovich's interview with Craig Sager during Thursday night's Thunder/Spurs game perfectly illustrating the stupidity of sideline 'reporters' and in-between interviews. [That NBA Lottery... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Coach Popovich on De Colo: ‘He’s the backup’

“Nando (De Colo) kept us together pretty well,” said San Antonio Spurs head Coach Gregg Popovich Wednesday evening after the Spurs defeated the Orlando Magic 98-84. De Colo, who started in place of Tony Parker (Sore left ankle), finished the game with eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in 29 minutes of play. Before the game, asked if De Colo...

CC video of the day: Popovich has little to say to Craig Sager

During last night's highly anticipated Thunder-Spurs matchup in OKC, it was the clash of the Western Conference's top-two teams, but also another shared moment for Gregg Popovich and TNT's Craig Sager. Pop, who is notorious for being rather short with his answers while looking annoyed with reporters, treated us to another "classic Pop" moment with Sager. ...

Hawks-Spurs Preview

While the slumping San Antonio Spurs are tied for the Western Conference lead, they may have to continue their quest for the No. 1 seed without their All-Star point guard. Tony Parker is unlikely to be available Saturday night as the Spurs go for a 15th consecutive home win over the Atlanta Hawks. After sitting out Wednesday's 98-84 win over Orlando due to a sore left ankle...

Video: TNT's Craig Sager gets 'Pop'd' during Spurs-Thunder game

It may have been a tough loss versus the Thunder last night in Oklahoma for the San Antonio Spurs but at least head coach Gregg Popovich gave us another one of his classic sideline interviews. Needless to say, with the Spurs down 11 points to the Thunder, Pop was not in the best of moods to discuss the game when TNT's Craig Sager had the unenviable task to talk to Pop. ...

Gregg Popovich says Jacque Vaughn has 'done a great job'

At the end of Wednesday's loss to the Spurs, Jacque Vaughn did something a bit different. Usually he points an acknowledgement to the opposing coach at the end of games before heading off to his locker room. For his mentor, Gregg Popovich, Vaughn went down to the other end of the court and visited the Spurs' head man and gave him a hug. There are a lot of San Antonio...

State of the Spurs: Showing their age

Extracting meaning from the week the San Antonio Spurs just experienced is a failed endeavor. Over the last week the Spurs have played the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder, and have lost three of those games. There was a win over the Orlando Magic in there to keep this from being some kind of losing streak, but the Spurs are not playing...

5 things to watch: Spurs vs. Magic

The San Antonio Spurs (55-19) will look to bounce back fro a road loss in Memphis as they return to San Antonio to host the lowly Orlando Magic (19-56).  This will be the final meeting between the two teams this season with the Spurs beating the Magic in Orlando 110-89. Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 20 points and 5 assists in the first meeting with Orlando. The Spurs will...

Spurs formula in place to break down Magic

The Spurs have their roles and what they need to do to win down to a science. With Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard and DeJuan Blair out tonight and Tim Duncan sitting out the second half (in what was then still a close game), San Antonio players stepped up and filled roles. No matter how many times you see it, it does not cease to impress. One day the Magic will get there again. One...
