A few notes from today's practice: MarShon Brooks became ill a severe headache and was excused from practice. He is questionable for tomorrow's game against the Knicks. Jordan Crawford left the team this morning due to a death in the family and he will miss tomorrow's preseason game against the Knicks. Our condolences go out to Jordan and his family. Avery Bradley had injured his left index finger during training camp in Newport. He had his left hand wrapped after practice today. X-rays were negative and doesn't expect to miss any time with the injury. Phil Pressey logged a DNP during the first game but Coach Stevens today said that we will see a lot of Pressey at the point guard spot in Wednesday's game vs the Knicks. Pressey stayed for half an hour after practice to get some extra shooting work in. He was the last player off the court. Pressey has the prime spot for a young point guard in the locker room. He has Rajon Rondo to his left and Avery Bradley on his right. Coach Stevens mentioned both defense and positioning as areas that the team needs to improve. Hopefully rebounding is on the list for improvement as well. Kris Humphries wants to run. From Green Street: Meanwhile, the first thing out of Humphries’ mouth upon meeting Stevens was, “Hey, let’s run” — a departure from a Nets system that didn’t maximize his skills last season — and Monday’s performance in a 97-89 loss to the Raptors didn’t cut it, so he dragged Jeff Green with him to run postgame sprints on a couple treadmills. “We want to play at a faster pace,” said Humphries, still dripping in sweat from the workout. “Jeff and I actually did a little bit of extra conditioning after the game, just to kind of get us going a little bit more, so we can build to the start of the season.” You have to love that kind of attitude. And the chemistry that Humphries is building with his teammates also: Sullinger pretended to hold a microphone to Humphries' face during media availability. Hump joked, "Sullinger needs to clip his nails." — Jay King (@ByJayKing) October 8, 2013 [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Pressey earning minutes in Rondo's absence

Pressey showcased everything Wednesday night against the New York Knicks. He scored 13 points, and some of those baskets looked like he's been playing for years, and the 7 assists that he picked up had the same effect. With Rondo still rehabbing from ACL surgery and Pressey the only true point guard on the roster, there's an opportunity for Pressey to earn more minutes...

Rondo speaks about Doc, KG,and Pierce

Brothers part from time to time, but they usually come together again. They'll never play on the court in the same uniforms ever again, but a brotherly bond can be unbreakable. Rondo spoke about "Brotherhood" when he was asked about Kevin and Paul during an interview after joining Anta sports apparel.I think the bond that has been forged, is unbreakable. Take former...

Are Rajon Rondo's days in Boston over once he is healthy?

As far as predictions go, this is a lot less bold than saying Michael Jordan will come back for one game. Still, this one is notable for including absolutely no hedging. Most of the talk involving Rajon Rondo and the Celtics this season centers around the team’s supposed need to trade the 27-year-old point guard if it is truly dedicated to rebuilding. Once Rondo returns from his...

Rajon Rondo: This is My Team, why would I want to leave Boston?

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is in an interesting spot as we head into the 2013 NBA season. Coming off a torn ACL, no one is exactly Rondo will play this season and looking at the roster, it’s probably best he takes his team. With Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in Brooklyn, Rondo now […]

We came up with eight awards (four positive, four not-so-positive), and will be giving out writer predictions on each of them over the next week or so. These awards will be named after Celtics greats (and not-so-greats), and hopefully...

The Boston Celtics lost a wild one on Wednesday night in Providence to the New York Knicks 103-102. But they may have discovered a key member of this team, especially in the absence of Rajon Rondo.
