Denver Nuggets, Brian Shaw Win First Game of 2013-14 NBA Season

The last time the Atlanta Hawks beat the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center was on Dec. 6, 2006. Tonight, that streak stayed alive.  The Nuggets, and first-year head coach Brian Shaw, won their first game of the 2013-14 NBA season in a 109-107 thriller over the Hawks on Nov. 7th. First Half: In the first 1:17, Randy Foye committed two fouls–this immediately hurt the Nuggets...

Pregame Notes: Denver Nuggets vs Atlanta Hawks

Denver Nuggets vs Atlanta Hawks: Denver is still looking to get a win. The Denver Nuggets are in a familiar place so far this season with an 0-3 start. That was exactly their position last season en route to a 57-win season. Unfortunately for the Nuggets, it does not look as though they will repeat that feat this season with the way that they have looked so far. Throw in the fact...

Poor Timofey Mozgov was posterized yet again

It might be time for Timofey Mozgov to start re-evaluating a few things, like whether he should just completely avoid standing around the rim from now on, because nothing good ever comes of it. Standing 7’1″ tall, you’d think that Mozgov would make a living out of keeping players out of the paint, but that’s not the case. Instead he has made a living out of plays like the...

Much to like about Suns after season's first road trip

The Suns have returned from the seasons first road trip with a notion of how far theyve already traveled on a suspected tank. And despite losing twice in three nights, we should acknowledge theyve covered considerable distance since the organization was being credited with preparing to lose on purpose. Looking strong in to-the-wire losses in Oklahoma City and San Antonio has to...

Nuggets win first game of the season, rally past Hawks

Someday, if this head coaching business works out for the Nuggets' Brian Shaw, he might come to some sort of win milestone and an inquiring scribe will ask: Do you still remember your first? Especially given the early season angst and 0-3 Nuggets start that preceded it, his answer almost certainly would be emphatic and affirmative. Shaw came into Thursday night's game looking...

Nuggets-Suns Preview

After avoiding the franchise's worst start in 15 years, the Denver Nuggets are hoping to get on a roll by continuing their recent dominance over the Phoenix Suns. The Suns, however, appear to be a different team after they finished at the bottom of the Western Conference last season. The Nuggets will look to build on their first win when they visit Phoenix on Friday night seeking...

Suns' rise continues with cool win over Nuggets

PHOENIX -- A year ago, they were All For Orange. Fresh out of star players (even the vintage variety), the Suns were marketed as a team attempting to turn spare parts into a playoff-worthy model. The schematic had been designed by the Denver Nuggets, who -- thanks to the choreographed desertion of Carmelo Anthony -- gathered a collection of better-than-spare parts and did pretty...

Markieff Morris leads the Suns past the Nuggets, 114-103

There were sure to be wild ups and downs this season, with a Suns team revamped so heavily that it became the second-most inexperienced among NBA teams. Who knew that would mean there could be so much sway in one night, too? The Suns gave up the sort of overwhelming run that should make no team feel like it could win a game. The Suns wasted a 17-point halftime lead when Denver...

Fantasy Basketball 2013: Guard Prognostications

Source: Christian Petersen/Getty Images North America The key addition to the Phoenix Suns’ offseason, Eric Bledsoe has been called many things in his young career, ranging from ‘Mini-LeBron’ to ‘athletic freak’ and even ‘overrated’ by some. What he will be this year, is a fantasy force as a combo guard for the uptempo system new Coach Jeff Hornacek is hoping to run...
