Fox Sports West:
The Lakers have been linked to Raja Bell since before he signed with the Utah Jazz in 2010. Kobe Bryant tried to recruit Bell for the Lakers but the Jazz offered him a lucrative contract.
Bell's relationship with Utah soured after two seasons. Now, in the final year of his deal, Bell has spent the entire season away from the team after both sides agreed to part ways. He's still under contract with the Jazz but has been inactive.
Jazz Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin O'Connor spoke on 1280-AM "The Zone" about Bell on Monday.
"We'll be willing to look at a buyout. We're not just going to let him walk away. We're paying him money," said O'Connor, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy recently reported that Bell "has been telling players and friends around the league that he'll join the Lakers."
O'Connor isn't so sure -- unless Bell is willing to take a sizable buyout.
"He can't get all the money from us and then go make more with the Lakers," said O'Connor. "Oh, thank you. I'd get fired for that. I'd fire me for that."
Though O'Connor suggested he might be reluctant to let Bell out of his contract if it would help the Lakers, ultimately O'Connor said it's more about economics.
"We've said it from the start: All we want is a minimum buyout," he said. "We never heard from him. He never said yes to it. We would have done it right away."
The Lakers have one roster spot available but haven't suggested they'd be interested in signing Bell if available. The 36-year old guard used to play for Coach Mike D'Antoni alongside Steve Nash with the Phoenix Suns, but Bell hasn't played a game all season.
If the Jazz and Bell do arrange a buyout, it needs to be completed by the March 1 deadline -- otherwise Bell won't be eligible to play for in the postseason for another franchise.

While the season has not gone as planned, both Steve Nash and Dwight Howard -- and even Kobe, in a way -- said that the run for a postseason berth could be fun.
Raja Bell hasn't played throughout the season.
AP.9 is best known for taking some Twodel style pictures with Ice T’s wife CoCo. Once he saw how that got him a little bit of attention, he has starting attention whoring to the highest degree of attention whoring.
I was trying to take him seriously, but then he started talking about taking 12 bullets and I started to tune him out. With that being said, he suggests he had an affair...
Pau Gasol is not yet ready to return to the court. He's not even ready to return to practices. However, he can at least do some form of working out. Apparently, the Los Angeles Lakers' forward has been cleared to use an elliptical. While there is a good chance Gasol cannot return unless the Lakers make the playoffs, he is working hard to get back. Kobe Bryant had just finished one of his most efficient games this season when his upbeat interview session with reporters stalled.
Someone asked him what the Lakers needed do to improve. He offered an important two-word response: "Transition defense."
That was Sunday. The Lakers got buried a day later in fastbreak points by the Denver Nuggets, 33-3, in a 119-108 loss...
Pau Gasol confirmed on Tuesday that he is no longer reliant on crutches.
The Lakers forwardcenter is currently sidelined with a foot injury (torn plantar fascia) suffered Feb. 8 in the Lakers 92-83 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Gasol was declared out for a minimum of six to eight weeks. On Tuesday he tweeted his own status update:
Back in the training room this morning. Today it...

The Lakers might not even get to the playoffs, but they won’t have Pau helping them make that push,at least according to Mike D’Antoni.
Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni suggested Pau Gasol won’t return in the regular season after nursing torn plantar fascia in his right foot for the past three weeks. “By the time he gets back, we’ll be in or out,” D’Antoni said. “His...

The Lakers three-game winning streak came to an end in Denver Monday night. The Nuggets simply had too much youth and too many high flyers for the Lakers. The game was a dunkfest, many coming at the hands of “The Manimal,” Kenneth Faried. Check out this alley-oop pass from Andre Iguodala which ended over Dwight Howard.
The Nuggets beat the Lakers 119-108. Faried added 12...
Kobe Bryant was named Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 31.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists and going a perfect 3-0.
The Black Mamba slithered past the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, with a 38-point, 12-rebound, seven-assist drubbing that he rubbed in Mavs owner Mark Cuban's face afterward.
You heard the old adage, "Never wake a sleeping giant," right?
Well apparently it fell on deaf ears recently as Mavericks owner Mark Cuban suggested the Lakers should amnesty Kobe Bryant next season thus saving the team some money and getting some luxury tax relief.
Well, that is all the Bryant needed to hear. Cuban poked the proverbial bear in his cage and Kobe dropped...
Los Angeles Lakers (28-29) vs. Denver Nuggets (35-22)
The Lakers are making their run. By golly, all the bluster and promises that their season starts now -- or is it now? -- is starting to come true. Dwight Howard said he did not have his conditioning right at the beginning of the season and has begun getting more comfortable or accepting the fact that he will not...
