DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and the injury-riddled Toronto Raptors beat the Atlanta Hawks 102-86 on Sunday night for their second straight win over a playoff-bound team. Alan Anderson, one of three Toronto players whose 10-day contract is about to expire, added 16 points for the Raptors, who were coming off an 84-79 win against Boston on Friday. Toronto, bound for the NBA's draft lottery, dominated in Atlanta. The other two former D-League players who've recently joined the Raptors contributed as well. Ben Uzoh, who like Anderson started, and rookie Justin Dentmon scored 10 points each. The Hawks, who routed the Magic 109-81 Friday for their fourth win in five games, never led against the Raptors. Josh Smith scored 12 of his 26 points in the first quarter, but Atlanta allowed Toronto to shoot 55 percent (41 for 74).

Raptors winning when they need to be losing

Ah April, sping is here, NHL playoffs are starting up, the Jays are giving us all hope and of course, the Raptors are winning when they should be losing. As my wife said, “classic Raptors”, as they continue to beat the good teams when they should be worrying about ping pong balls. They beat the Celtics on Friday and the Hawks (in Atlanta) last night. What is going on? This all...

DeRozan Is Becoming Toronto’s New Closer

The Toronto Blue may want to look at obtaining DeMar DeRozan to help with their problems closing games. All kidding aside, Dwane Casey has talked all season about developing DeRozan into a late-game closer for the Toronto Raptors and tonight he came through with four huge free throws in the last minute of the game to ice a win against the Boston Celtics. “I just told him those...

Raptors PG Calderon to sit out again

Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon will miss his second straight game Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks. Calderon also did not play in Friday's game as a precautionary reason to allow his stitched-up eye to heal. He was hurt in Wednesday's loss to New Jersey when he was elbowed in the face. Calderon is averaging 10.5 points and 8.8 assists this season.

Comments from the other side - Raptors 4/13

I remember when Raptors game threads were had over a hundred pages each. Now, it's more like in the teens. It was hilarious that they were actually cheering for the Celtics because a win would be a set back to their ping pong ball total. Comments after losses usually aren't much fun but these are hilarious as the Raptor fans cheer for the Celtics and get mad when they lose...

Raptors 84, Celtics 79

DeMar DeRozan scored 13 of his 22 points in the third quarter and made four pivotal free throws down the stretch as the short-handed Toronto Raptors held off the Boston Celtics 84-79 Friday night.
