Dwight Buycks is an honest man.
Most league MVPs would tell you how much better they got during a successful year but Buycks says his game didn’t really change in 2012-13 when he was named the top player in France after starring for BCM Gravelines.
“I’m actually the same” said the 6-foot-3 Milwaukee native who is vying for minutes in the Raptors’ backcourt in his first NBA season.
Buycks did acknowledge that he grew considerably as a man by being independent and on his own in Europe and got a lot out of the stint.
“It definitely was a good year. They put a lot of trust in me with the basketball to lead them to win games and when you have that comfort from your teammates and your coaching staff it helps a lot” Buycks said after practice Tuesday.
The former Marquette guard put himself on Toronto’s radar with his play in France and then an excellent summer league in Orlando and then Las Vegas. He was signed to a two-year deal.
