Beyond The Buzzer:
According to Eric Koreen of the National Post:
Bryan Colangelo told NBA TV he’s shopping Andrea Bargnani. Has talked with agent about moving him, but won’t just trade him to trade him.
“I’m not saying he’s asked for a trade, but he certainly would not fight or resist a [new] situation…”
BEST OF MAXIM
Bryan Colangelo made one of his bolder moves when he traded a player on an expiring contract and another player who was playing at his peak. Instead of getting burnt like they did when Donyell Marshall bolted town without getting anything in return, Colangelo was able to get a fringe all-star small forward while giving up very little in return.
Andrea Bargnani has been sidelined since Dec. 12 with a right elbow injury.
Mark and McNeill are back to break down the trade that saw Rudy Gay land in Toronto. We talked about why Toronto was a huge winner in this deal, McNeill felt sorry for Jose Calderon landing in Detroit, and what other moves Bryan Colangelo might have in store.
Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Thursday for criticizing officials the previous night after a loss at Atlanta.
In the closing seconds of the Raptors' 93-92 loss to the Hawks, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan grabbed the rebound of a missed shot by teammate Alan Anderson and had his attempt under the basket blocked by the Hawks' Al Horford. There...
I think it’s safe to assume Lionel Hollins won’t be poppin’ bubbly for the Grizzlies new aquisitons and the departure of Rudy Gay. After last night’s blowout loss to OKC, Hollins used the analogy of having a ‘champagne taste’ on ‘a beer budget’ to describe the recent moves.
According to The Oklahoman:
“When you have champagne taste, you can’t be on a beer budget...
Raptors fans rejoice: Rudy Gay will make his Toronto debut Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Raptors play-by-play guy Matt Devlin made the announcement on Twitter. Get Gay in your lineup.
Meanwhile, the Clippers will be without Matt Barnes, who is suspended one game for a flagrant-2 foul for shoving Minnesota center Greg Stiemsma in the neck.
#RudyGay will play...
TORONTO -- It did not take long for Rudy Gay to feel at home with the Toronto Raptors after they acquired him in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. He arrived in Toronto on Friday morning and gave a press conference in the afternoon, then took the court in the evening and came off the bench to score 20 points as the Raptors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 98-73. It didn'...
At the end of a lopsided Toronto Raptors victory, L.A. Clippers forward Caron Butler walks up to Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas as time is expiring, fakes a high five, steals the ball, and heads to the basket, drawing a foul and putting him on the line. Quite an amusing play as the Raptors destroyed the [...]
The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to trade leading scorer, Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors, along with Hamed Haddadi, for Ed Davis, Jose Calderon and a second round pick. The Grizzlies are shipping Calderon immediately to Detroit, for Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye. Here are the grades from this massive three-team trade.
Add: Ed Davis, Tayshaun Prince, Austin Daye...
If you haven’t read enough trade break-down yet, good friend Trev Smith and I did a brief, Grantland-style e-mail exchange discussing the trade from the Toronto perspective. That correspondence is below.
Blake: The board approved it. Colangelo stays. This is my first thought.
Trev: I have always liked Jose as a person, on and off the floor. In my brief but telling dealings with...
The rumor shave been swirling for a while, but the Memphis Grizzlies have finally found and agreed to a trade to send Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors will acquire Gay while giving up Jose Calderon and Ed Davis. Details are not all out on the table just yet, but it is expected that the Detroit Pistons will serve as the third team to take on Jose Calderon.
The Memphis Grizzlies are nearing completion on a trade to send forward Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The teams are expected to present proposals to their respective owners on Wednesday. It is unclear whether the Grizzlies have found a third team to join the trade or will absorb the $10.5 million expiring contract of Jose Calderon themselves...
