Rasual ready to celebrate in a Clippers uni.GM Mike Dunleavy is at it again. A year after acquiring Marcus Camby for a bag of Funyuns(option to swap 2nd round picks), his latest deal has landed Rasual Butler AND cash for a conditional 2nd round pick in 2016 - a pick the Hornets will likely never see. Perhaps Dunleavy has started a trend; last week the Memphis Grizzlies acquired Steven Hunter, a protected 1st rounder, and cash from the Nuggets for a conditional 2nd rounder. I have a feeling you might see deals of this type more often in the NBA's near future.Butler was a guy whom I thought the Clips should've gone after weeks ago. Considering the Hornets are in Luxury Tax level, it would only make sense to take advantage of their financial issues. Little did I know Dun was thinking on the same wavelength. In Rasual, the Clippers get much needed depth at the SF/SG positions. He was an integral part of the Hornets last season, as he played all 82 games, starting 74 games. He also started in all 5 playoff games. Off the bat, Rasual is already a better defender than Al Thornton, and that alone should earn him minutes. Thornton, for all his athleticism, was one of the Clipper's worst defenders last year. Butler also comes in as one of the Clippers best shooters, as he hit a career-best 140 3PG in 359 3PA (39%) in '08-'09. His versatility to also play SG and spell Eric Gordon is definitely a bonus. Plus the guy is clutch: So yes, another top notch deal by GM Dunleavy. I always make sure to differentiate between him and Coach Dunleavy, because he's infinitely better at one position than the other(take a wild guess which one it is). And if these rumors that the Clips are closing in on Ramon Sessions are true, it would be a perfect way to end the offseason. Why can't it be October already?!?
