New York Knicks center Rasheed Wallace referred to Orlando Magic guard Aaron Afflalo as "AFLAC" during Tuesday night's NBA game at the Amway Center. It happened in the second quarter with the score tied at 43-43. As Afflalo's first free throw bounced off the rim, Wallace could be heard shouting "Yeah, AFLAC!" We're pretty sure Afflalo has no connection to the insurance company, but we get the feeling that the nickname could stick. Video via nbaus3030. H/T BDL. The Knicks Are The Real Deal

(Disclaimer: Written before Memphis beatdown…ironic) On Wednesday, I was not convinced. I was not convinced the Knicks were the team their record indicated. 5-0? I’ve seen the Knicks go on hot streaks before. So they beat the Heat. Big Whoop. Their shots were falling that night, but they’re not going to fall every night. The offense was still slow, Melo was still taking too...

J.R. Smith says he partied too much last season

J.R. Smith is enjoying a stretch in which he is playing the best basketball of his career. He’s currently averaging 18.2 points per game this season, which is second on the club trailing only Carmelo Anthony. This morning when asked about head coach Mike Woodson calling Smith “more professional,” J.R. gave the reason why: he’s not partying as much. Smith said: “I’m not...

High top fades. It’s gotta stop.

Very rarely do I nit-pick about athlete swag. Personality, style of dress, hairdo. All these things are usually off limits for me because who am I to say somebody else’s steeze should be done away with. But when it comes to these high top fades slowly creeping their way back into the NBA and pop culture I have got to take a stand. We’re all haters when it comes to some aspects...

Knicks Credit Carmelo For Becoming More Unselfish

Carmelo Anthony kept the ball moving, setting up key baskets for Raymond Felton, J.R. Smith and Jason Kidd.

Grizzlies hand Knicks first loss, 105-95

After handing the New York Knicks their first loss of the season, the Memphis Grizzlies now have the NBA's best record. Zach Randolph had 20 points and 15 rebounds, Marc Gasol added 24 points and the Grizzlies beat the Knicks 105-95 Friday night, ending New York's season-opening eight-game winning streak. Memphis used a big third-quarter run to increase its lead to 21 points...

Here's your soundtrack for this one. Play in the background, or not. Tonight in Memphis, the New York Knicks did something they haven't done all year, and something that every other team has done already. They lost, for the first time, and while the result wasn't in any way surprising (they were on the down slope of a back to back, they had extended a lot of energy...

Nelson leads Magic past Pistons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Jameer Nelson provided the leadership the Orlando Magic had been lacking. With his inspiration, the Magic erased a 13-point, second-half deficit and snapped a five-game losing streak. Returning from a six-game absence due to hamstring and groin injuries, Nelson had 13 points and 10 assists to lift the Magic to a 110-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons Friday...

Knicks beat Spurs, move to 6-0

Raymond Felton scored 25 points and the New York Knicks stayed undefeated by rallying to beat the San Antonio Spurs, 104-100, on Thursday night. J.R. Smith added 17 points, Jason Kidd had 14 and Tyson Chandler 13 for the Knicks (6-0), who closed on a 22-11 run to remain the NBA's lone unbeaten team. Tony Parker led San Antonio (7-2) with 19 points and 12 assists. Kawhi Leonard...

Beating Spurs shows Woodson Knicks are for real

Riding a five-game winning streak, and being the lone undefeated team in the NBA, heading into last night's contest versus the San Antonio Spurs the odds were stacked against the New York Knicks. The last time New York won in San Antonio was back in March, 2003 and the team was facing a Spurs team that was coming off a huge win against the Lakers and owners of a record with...

Magic-Pistons Preview

The struggling Orlando Magic expect one of the two starters injured in their first contest to return for the opener of a three-game trip. It appears the other will be sidelined longer than originally believed. Mired in a five-game losing streak, the Magic hope Jameer Nelson's return can provide a spark Friday night against a Detroit Pistons team looking to build on its first...
