PLAYERS: Ray Allen
TEAMS: Miami HeatBoston Celtics
It's very strange this time of year to not be watching media sessions with the Boston Celtics. In 4 of the last 6 seasons, the Boston Celtics had reached the Eastern Conference Finals. In all 4 of those appearances, Ray Allen was a key contributor and go-to guy in the clutch. Today, Ray finds himself a 37 year old bench player, contributing 12.2 points per game, up from his season average of 10.9 ppg. Celtics fans are used to such increased contributions from Ray-Ray as he always showed up in the big game, on the big night. Ray Allen is clutch and he says, not much has change. "There was a point when I was in Milwaukee and we made it, we thought we were going to be there consistently," Allen said. "One thing that we made the mistake of was getting comfortable with that notion. Being here is not guaranteed. You've got to work your way here every year." He calls this year's experience no different than when he was hobbled by an ankle injury last season ...

Are the Boston Celtics headed to the 2014 NBA Lottery?

The last time the Boston Celtics were in the Draft Lottery. While I was watching the NBA Lottery Show yesterday, I was wondering, "Are we going to be represented in the lottery next year?" Of course, many of Boston Celtic's fans think we will retain Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, sign a star and with a healthy Rajon Rondo be back in the thick of things in the Eastern...

Epic Celtics fail at the Vatican?

Red Auerbach must be spinning in his grave. How do you NOT put the Pope's name on the Pope's jersey? Boston Celtics minority owner James Pallotta was at the Vatican on Wednesday in advance of the Coppa Italia final involving one of his soccer teams. Likely thinking it a fine idea to further relations between the US (OK, the NBA) and the Church, he presented Pope Francis...

Udonis Haslem relishes role as Heat's throwback player

MIAMI When Udonis Haslem was in high school, his team had a take-charge drill in which one player would barrel into another at full speed. For some, it was grueling. For Haslem, it was entertainment. You would just stand there in the lane and let a guy run you over, the Miami Heat forward remembers about those days at Miami High School. It was crazy. You just got to take it in...

Fashion consultant: Dwyane Wade’s outfits set all the way through Finals

Setting aside the fact for a moment that Miami Heat superstar and NBA fashionisto Dwyane Wade actually has a fashion consultant, the news that every detail and accessory of every outfit Wade will wear all the way through the NBA Finals has been selected and planned is as humorous as it is revealing about just [...]The post Fashion consultant: Dwyane Wade’s outfits set all the way...

Celtics to have six point guards in for workouts

You think Danny Ainge is looking to draft a backup point guard? The writing has really been on the while for a bit. The Celtics have struggled to find a point guard to back up Rondo. Terrance Williams could've filled that role a bit but his future with the team remains under clear after a recent arrest. It was a glaring issue that the team was able to get away with, by just...

Dwyane Wade’s Stylist Says He Has All His Outfits Planned Through NBA Finals

And here I was thinking that Wade picked out his clothes with his eyes closed… This year athletes have seemed to press the envelope more than ever when it comes to their fashion choices, and that proved no truer than when Dwyane Wade wore a double-breasted, polka dot, capri pants suit to game four of the Eastern Conference semifinals. His stylist, Calyann Barnett called into...

Your Morning Dump… Where a papal blessing can’t hurt

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. James Pallotta, president of the soccer team AS Roma and a minority owner of the Celtics, presented a Celtics jersey to Pope Francis at the Vatican Wednesday. Pallotta was there to represent Roma in the Coppa Italia...

Why hasn’t Doc confirmed his return next season?

Now let me preface this by saying this is all speculation on my part, and Felger and Mazz briefly touching upon this in yesterday afternoons program really got me thinking about it. Danny Ainge told the media a week ago that: “Doc is coaching next year. As far as everything I know, he’s going to be our coach. “I haven’t heard anything other than Doc’s coaching next...
