Ray Allen keeps getting asked about “the shot.” He’s not complaining, exactly. He thinks it was just as cool as a lot of Heat fans did. In case you blocked it from your memory, the shot in question came with 5.2 seconds to go in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Heat were on the verge of being eliminated by the Spurs before a scrum for an offensive rebound ended with the ball in the capable hands of Allen in the left corner. Allen’s shot was good because, of course it was, and two days later the Heat were NBA champions for the second consecutive year. As Allen has made the rounds this offseason, he has been asked again and again about the shot, wherever he goes. And he’s fine with that. “You can never smite glory,” Allen told USA Today. “It’s something that you always will be associated with when you’re winning.” Allen hasn’t sought much attention this summer after doubling his collection of titles. He will soon add the 2013 championship ring to his 2008 Celtics bauble, and having exercised his player option for this season, he’ll go for ring No. 3 in 2014. So if you see Allen around, feel free to ask him about “the shot.” He doesn’t get tired of talking about it. Photo via Facebook/Ray Allen Filed under: Ben Watanabe, Headlines, Miami Heat, NBA
