The first time most University of Louisville fans saw Reece Gaines, he was waving to them from a balcony at the Howard Schnellenger Complex at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Gaines was attending the spring football game.The other memory is of Gaines hitting three 3-pointers in the final 32 seconds to lift the UofL basketball team to a 73-72 comeback against Tennesee  in December 2001.Gaines returning to Louisville to be an assistant coach to Scottie Davenport at Bellarmine, assisting in all facets of the program.His NBA resume includes being drafted in the first round by the Orlando Magic in 2003, initiating a 10-year professional career that included stints with the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, and several teams in Europe.
