With only 2 points, you may be wondering why I’m leading with Reggie Evans. Well, he grabbed 23 boards last night, including 6 offensive. He doesn’t always do that, and he likely will never come close to that number for the rest of the season, but in deep leagues where you need rebounds, Evans is your guy. He has been averaging 8 or so rebounds every night, and as he continues to see 20+ minutes per game, he should continue to pull down missed shots. Spencer Hawes – On a night where only one starter saw more than 10 points and only three Sixers total passed that mark, Hawes produced 14 points, including a three. Unfortunately, he also went for 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Over the past week, he has been putting up better rebound numbers than that, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Hawes to go on one of his 2 or 3 boards per night stretches. Andray Blatche – After being questioned by police over a woman’s rape, Blatche found a way to shut that whole thing down and then tallied 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. What a cray day for Dray. The most important news is, he’s not a rapist. Dwyane Wade – He had 30 points thanks to an incredible 4 of 6 from downtown. I’m not sure when the last time he hit 4 threes was. 2010, maybe? Anyway, he also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a block. Roy Hibbert – Hibbs put up a mere 6 points but more importantly grabbed 14 rebounds (including 9 offensive). Plus, he threw in an assist. Luis Scola – There are some sexier names on the Suns I could highlight, but Scola played 31 minutes for a double double’s worth of 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also had a block and an assist. Although the offensive slaughter he was performing has tapered off a bit, he’s still producing his usual 7 or so rebounds, and obviously had more last night. John Henson – He was the only Buck with double digit rebounds, and he didn’t even play 20 minutes. He did finish, however, with 12 points, 11 boards, 2 dimes, and a block. It’s his 4th game in a row with at least 9 rebounds, and his 3rd with at least 13. Don’t miss this piggy. Metta World Peace – For a change, Kobe Bryant did not lead the Lakers in points, thanks in part to missing 6 of 8 from downtown. Instead, the Player Formerly Known As Ron Artest (φ) had 24 points (4 of 5 from the perimeter) with 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 turnovers. Splendid, indeed. I expect to see more of the same from φ in the 2nd half. Robert Sacre – Sacre Bleu! With Pau Gasol out for a while due to concussion symptoms (how else can his season get any better?), Sacre started at Center. He produced 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 block shots. Dis donc, another player who blocks more than he rebounds. This is like a slow moving virus that is reviving the fantasy careers of otherwise useless role players. Merde! Toney Douglas – With 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, I’ve now mentioned Toney’s name to the point where he will probably become (SPOILERS) a Buy come Friday. Jeremy Lin – Despite 19 points, 2 threes, 6 boards, 5 assists and 4 steals, he also had 7 turnovers. That’s Classic Lin for you. Memory, all alone in the moonlight… Andrei Kirilenko – The U.S. will never have gun control so long as AK47 is still on the floor. Andrei went for 21 points, including dos de dos from downtown, plus 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Alexey Shved – Here to stay, it seems, with 15 points (2-5 from deep), 2 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Yep, he nearly led his team in both blocks and assists (falling one shy in the dimes department, which is where the dollar store puts its clearance items). Nikola Pekovic – I love the Nikola non-brothers. Pekovic had 18 rebounds (6 offensive), a career high. He also led the Woodpuppies with 25 big ones, plus an assist and a block. Kyle Korver – If you need points, Korver has had at least 8 per game going back to mid-December, including 15 last night (with 4 of 7 from behind the arc). Unfortunately, he only produced 4 rebounds and an assist, leaving him in line for the past 2 weeks (3 RPG, 2 APG). If you folks pop your heads in around noon EST, we’re going to have a little feature about one of our partners and some pretty exciting ways they offer to play fantasy basketball throughout the rest of the season. Set your alarms!
