Yesterday prior to the Sixers playing the Thunder General Manager Tony DiLeo updated the fans on Andrew Bynum. The quote “ Only Andrew can answer that question, his body can answer that when he feels better.” This in response to when will Bynum be ready to play, tells us possibly never. DiLeo stated that there is no time-line for Bynum to return and he will be evaluated again in mid-December going on later to say we have “plans for the future if he is not back with us”. Those plans were immediately rolled out against the Thunder and the Sixers lost in overtime. The rotation of Allen and Brown if you call it a rotation will be it for the rest of this season. As well as moving Hawes over to play some center the Sixers and Coach Collins will play out the season using primarily a smaller/faster lineup. Living and dying away from the basket is not a successful path over 82 games, our Sixers will finish the season much like last season. Now that DiLeo has established the path for Bynum never to take the court for the Sixers, what can be done to improve the interior defense? Making a move to find someone who can play some minutes (preferably Browns minutes) Greg Oden is a possibility. A free-agent who is looking to get back in the league he would give the Sixers much-needed defense with little downside as he could be signed for the remainder of the season and he does want to play. There has been very little interest from any other NBA teams for Oden which would impact any real salary impact. Signing Oden obviously is not the caliber of Bynum’s signing but it would give the Sixers some quality minutes at the center position and give direction. That direction being Bynum will not take the court ever for the Sixers and DiLeo has given up hope. HOPE does not win basketball games.  Similar Posts: Bynum might be back in January if he can MAN up Trend setting Sixers win three in a row on the road Halloween and Sixers basketball, you are in for a treat Bynum’s Oct 24 return, a new era to begin but for how long?
