Free agent shooting guard Nick Young reportedly has agreed to terms on a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, a move that will trigger the release of power forward Elton Brand under the league's amnesty clause.

Young's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Friday the Los Angeles native has a one-year contract for about $6 million and ESPN.com reported Brand will be the salary cap casualty.

Brand had the worst season in his 13-year career last season, 11 points and 7.1 rebounds a game. That's more than seven points less than his career average.

The amnesty clause, which was negotiated the league's latest collective bargaining agreement, allows a team to waive one player between July 11-17 without him counting against the team's salary cap.

Brand will still receive the $18 million he is owed next season, but he will go through a special waiver process for teams under the salary cap. ESPN reported the Dallas Mavericks are interested in claiming Brand.

NBA free agents are in the negotiating period until July 11, when they can sign new contracts.

Young, who started last season with the Washington Wizards, was sent to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a three-team deal. He averaged 14.2 points a game.
