Dwight Howard bolted the Los Angeles Lakers for the Houston Rockets, and the perception continues to be that Howard left because he didn’t like head coach Mike D’Antoni‘s system. Well, apparently Howard wasn’t the only L.A. basketball player to desire to leave if he didn’t get his coach — only this one got his way. Chris Paul threatened the Clippers that he would leave the team and sign with the Rockets to team up with Dwight Howard if L.A. didn’t acquire head coach Doc Rivers, according to Grantland’s Bill Simmons. Paul is said to have made his point after the first round of talks between the Clippers and Boston Celtics fell through. “To Chris Paul, who basically told the Clippers that after they squashed the first incarnation of their Doc Rivers trade,” Simmons wrote. “Chris didn’t like that. He let them know he was heading to Houston to team up with Dwight. And he wasn’t kidding.” So, this is the state of the NBA: marquee players are spurning the Lakers, while the Clippers are a

Reader’s Digest Gives Shaquille O’Neal Credit for Aristotle Quote

Doc Rivers‘ favorite quip, whenever a reporter asks him about an injured player’s condition, is “You know ‘Doc’ is just a nickname, right?” Shaquille O’Neal may want to co-opt his former coach’s phrase for his own devices: “You know ‘Big Aristotle’ is just a nickname, right?” Reader’s Digest apparently did not get the memo. In its “Quotable Quotes” section...

Mike D’Antoni Still Doesn’t Understand Dwight Howard Leaving Lakers

Dwight Howard did the unthinkable nearly a month ago. He left the city of angels to pair up with rising superstar James Harden. Los Angeles is normally the place where stars go to cement their legacy. Well, Howard went against the grain. It just never seemed to work in L.A. for the 7-time All-Star. Dwight was frustrated for the duration of the season. He didn’t receive the amount...

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni calls Dwight Howard “mind-boggling.”

The Four Best Moves of the Celtics' Offseason

Whether you wanted to admit it or not, the summer of 2013 was almost guaranteed to be a busy one for the Boston Celtics. The team was coming off of a first round playoff exit they suffered at the hands of the New York Knicks and, judging by the emotional exchange that took place between Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett as the final minute or two of Game 6 ticked off the clock, it was...

Gasol eager to reclaim the post left by Howard

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- With Dwight Howard gone and Kobe Bryant injured, Pau Gasol is looking to reassert himself as a leader of the Los Angeles Lakers. Knees allowing, he wants to be the dominant player of old who helped Bryant & Co. win NBA titles in 2009 and 2010. "I think I have the most uncertain period behind me," Gasol told The Associated Press on Tuesday...

Dez Bryant Says It’s Redskins Dezmon Briscoe Who Likes To Get Peed On

I find this all a bit humorous. Just to review a groupie went on Twitter and said Dez Bryant likes straps on and to be peed on. Dez responded by saying that he was going to sue the groupie for her false claims. The groupie deleted her Twitter account and now Dez has added a twist to the story.  He has released these text messages via his twitter account that he received from the...

Warriors Look to Continue Winning Ways

This NBA off-season has been wildly entertaining. Dwight Howard finally (3 years later) made a decision that actually makes sense for his career, Josh Smith signed with Detroit, the Nets added Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce while the Boston Celtics imploded their roster, and most recently the Pistons performed a sign-and-trade to bring Brandon Jennings into the fold.  However...

Report: Knicks Won’t Let Amar’e Stoudemire Train With Hakeem Olajuwon Anymore

Either Amar’e Stoudemire has had a change of heart this summer, or the Knicks are not really feeling Dwight Howard going to Houston. After agreeing to travel to Houston to train with Hall of Fame center and big man guru Hakeem Olajuwon, Stoudemire, reportedly has changed his mind, and will instead rest. You probably assumed Stoudemire chose to pass on refining his post game, and...
