Delonte West has always been a valuable role player, but there are plenty of bells and whistles that come with his contributions. West, whose off-the-court antics have often overshadowed his production as a player, is once again in hot water. The veteran guard has been suspended by the Dallas Mavericks for conduct detrimental to the team, head coach Rick Carlisle said, according to ESPN.com. West's suspension reportedly stems at least in part from a locker room outburst he had on Monday after the Mavericks defeated the Rockets in preseason action. This is hardly the first controversial incident involving West, who has battled bipolar disorder throughout his NBA career. In addition to the now famous rumors linking him to LeBron James' mother, West was arrested in 2009 on weapons charges, which led to eight months of house arrest and a 10-game suspension. As mentioned, though, West has been a solid contributor on the court, averaging 9.7 points in 27.4 minutes per game over the course of an eight-year NBA career that includes stops in Boston, Seattle, Cleveland and Dallas. Last season, West averaged 9.6 points in 24.1 minutes per game over 44 contests with the Mavericks. It's unclear at this point how long West has been suspended.
