The Miami Heat continues to add to its championship roster.

Days after landing free agent guard Ray Allen, the Heat reached agreement with forward Rashard Lewis on a one-year, $1.35 million deal, according to the Miami Herald.

NBA free agent contracts can't be officially announced until Wednesday.

Lewis will be making the veteran minimum salary, but it's not as though he will be hurting for money this season. He was traded from the Washington Wizards to New Orleans Hornets just before last month's draft, and New Orleans subsequently bought out the final year of his contract for $13.7 million.

He was due to be playing in the final season of a six-year, $113 million deal.

Lewis, a two-time NBA All-Star, will enter his 14th season in the NBA after averaging 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 28 games, including 15 starts, last season for Washington. He sustained a left knee bone bruise that ended his season before the All-Star break.

When healthy, Lewis, like Allen, is a dangerous 3-point shooter. Their presence should open driving lanes for Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Lewis reteams with Allen after both played for the Seattle SuperSonics from 2003-04 to 2006-07.

In the trade that sent Lewis to New Orleans, Washington received forward Trevor Ariza and center Emeka Okafor. The Hornets also got the 46th pick in the draft, which it used to select Kentucky forward Darius Miller.
