From NESN.com:

Michael Jordan may be known to gamble and take a crazy shot or two, but after years of working to make the struggling Charlotte Bobcats viable, it looks like he may no longer be interested in trying to beat the odds.

Jordan, who owns the Bobcats, recently told Charlotte general manager Rich Cho to get ready for another rebuilding year, but if winning doesn't happen soon (meaning a few more of Jordan's millions down the drain), he’s ready to sell the team, the New York Daily News reports.

"I told Rich to make us better," the Daily News reports Jordan telling a team associate. "If that doesn’t work and I can’t make a profit in the next three to four years, then I’m selling."

Jordan had recently been looking for someone to buy half the team after the franchise lost about $20 million last season, but it now appears that he may go all in.

  • Jordan is a fake...a phony and a loser at everything but (playing) basketball. Yes, he was a great basketball player (albeit a slightly overrated one), but he is a terrible NBA executive.

As an outside businessman, he has everything done for him by David Falk, so we will never know how good he is at negotiations. My guess is that he has absolutely no business acumen. In the end, Magic Johnson he ain't.

He needs to just concentrate on playing golf, being with his new girlfriend and guiding his sons into realistic careers. They suck as badly at basketball as he does business. I have never liked A-Rod...I mean, Jordan very much, and never understood why people didn't see him for the phony that he is.

Jordan, Tiger and A-Rod are all phonies.
  • Thats no way to support the only black majority owner in sports. He could tie his named to a group of billionaire investers for a few million then over pay for a team like Magic did but hes doing something different. He may be a bad owner but its his money and his team whats phony or fake about that?
  • sounds like someone has a grudge , leave the man alone , he worked hard for his money if he wants to waste it on a team let it be ! go make something of yourself first before criticizing others !
  • What's fake/phony about trying to own your own business? your comment makes no sense. Also, overrated is not the adjective to describe Jordan. There was no one better...
  • GET A LIFE AND EDUCATE YOUR DUMB PHONEY ASS!!! YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THE TALENT THAT MICHAEL JORDAN HAS AND IF YOU WERE 1% AS TALENTED OR EDUCATED AS HE IS YOU COULD MOUTH OFF, HOWEVER YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!(AND A JEALOUS ONE AT THAT) HE IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME AND HE DID IT B4ECAUSE HE LOVES THE GAME AND TO PLAY. WHAT THE HE-- ARE YOU GOOD AT OTHER THAN BEING STUPID WITH A BIG MOUTH???? GET A LIFE AND SHUT UP!!!!
  • overrated? blackprince, your the wannabe of all wannabee's. I'd like to see how you live up to blackprince. ars
  • I smell a hater, you're obviously no prince when you sink so low to hate those that do well. Now true Jordan dosen't know jack about running an organization but that's no reason to let all that vile bile come out of your mouth.
  • This one is easy..LOL. Lets look. Original poster goes by the name "blackprince" and just called Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and A-Rod "phonies", and MJ as "over rated". What a suprise, all 3 just happen to prefer white women.

SERIOUSLY? MJ IS "over rated"? I can honestly say i have NEVER heard that said before. NEVER! I can understand MAYBE arguing if hes the best basketball player EVER, but over rated? You sir, are a twit.

Tiger Woods and A-Rod are "phonies"? Im not a Tiger fan, and i personally think he is morally bankrupt, but Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer EVER, he will break the record, and NOBODY in our lifetime will EVER come close to his talent or wins.
    You sir, are a twit.

I despise the Yankees, and A-Rod even more. But once again, he is a future HOF'er, and one of the greatest of our lifetime. (except for the post season. HAHA!)
    you sir, are a twit.

Go back to your black panther meeting, your far too ignorant to be posting on threads like this. YOUR WAY TOO OBVIOUS SIR. So Sorry.
  • OH jeez, here we go again,..xCIREx...its not about race, bro.Thats the problem with "people' like you.someone comments on something in thier opinion, and boom,,,its about black and white..yeah this is why you guys hide behind these blogs and comments. Because "THIS IS YOUR LIFE"...LOL..
  • @ROKMAN...

riiiiiiight.... im not sure what you mean?

Im all ears if you have a debate to dissagree with my opinions? All i heard you cry about was the "race card". Not a single comment to back up any claims that i posted. What exactly did you dissagree with? All i seen from you is a troll post begging for attention.

Also, we are posting on ONLINE BLOGS...how in the hell would i participate in an ONLINE BLOG and not be "hiding behind a computer"?

Im going to just assume you have a point to make, or atleast some sort of intelligent input or opinion, because if you were attempting to call me a racist..I typed that MJ, Tiger, and ARod were the greatest ever, and were standing up for 3 people that arent my skin color.. so convincing me or anyone else that i may be racist would look a little silly :)

As far as "THIS IS YOUR LIFE".. well my brainy friend, i may be wrong, but im pretty sure thats your name right beside mine?.
  • Just because you were a fantastic professional basketball player, doesn't guarantee you success as a coach/GM/owner. Part of owning a team and being successful is having the right GM/Coach on board. You also need to have a franchise where players want to play. It is possible that top-notch players are hesitant to get in Michael Jordan's shadow. Top notch players may just want to carve out their own niche. In the end, Michael Jordan's playing career is what will define his legacy at this point in time. Everything else is secondary at the moment.
  • A jerk.
Except for playing basketball, the guy has been a loser in everything else that he has been involved in.
  • Michael Jordan ?------A-rod ?----Tiger ?
    I say-----Hose Conseco for predisdent ! ! ! !
    Can I have an Amen ? ? ? ! ! !
  • Jordan was a helluva basketball player, and arguably the most successful one ever. Everything else, not so much. The facts speak for themselves... so all the arguments on here are about emotion, nothing more, nothing less.
  • Listen Sports Fans,
After reading some of these Ignorant comments..I was compelled to write a few words....to these people who have chosen to take a LESSER Path in Life...
The Single most Destructive characteristic of the human race is SELF-UN-AWARENESS!!
I am a WHITE GUY(NOT THAT THIS MATTERS BUT I WANTED ALL THE JUDGEMENTAL IGNORANT MORONS OUT THERE TO KNOW)....
    JUST for the Record...
MICHAEL JORDAN(IN MY OPINION) IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER IN HISTORY ....BAR NONE.....How ANY Human being could ever judge such a human being..is beyond me....HE EARNED what he has...HE DESERVES what he has.....He can do what he wants with his massive fortune.....My God man....Leave this person alone.....When you judge someone else and point a finger at someone..you have THREE fingers pointing back at yourself.....His business acumen or anything else he does is irrelevent... This man has EARNED the right to do what he wants with his time, his fortune...his legacy....His Talent was a gift from the Universe...there have "maybe" been 3 or 4 Athletes in History who have ever given so much...made so many people sit back in awe....appreciate the game....(Like Mariano Rivera..MO) Magic,Bird,Gehrig,Mantle,Cano,Jeter in his prime,Reggie,Joe Montana, Namath...you get the point...PEOPLE ARE HUMAN and do HUMAN THINGS.,.Make HUMAN Mistakes...no Matter how much money or fame they achieve....They do the best they can NO ONE knows what it is like to be them with such a bright world Light shining on them........(Or Music Legends... Frank,Elvis,The Beatles or Marvin Gaye, Steveie Wonder...or any of the greats.........it is a GIFT....and I am grateful for every hour I ever spent watching the greatest players in history do their thing....How any human being on earth could put the word "loser" in the same sentence as Michael Jordan...is not only sick, jealous and ignorant....it is despicable...whether you are a racist ...I don't know that...I don't know YOU...but to Judge a man off the the playing surface.... achieve what he has first......and deal with the world fame....THEN TALK....I am sure once you got there...you would NOT be so quick to air your ignorant opinions and take this lesser path in life you have chosen.
    Remember..BEFORE you speak...

Nothing Michael Jordan can ever do will change his GOAT status as a player on the NBA's basketball court. In the NBA's boardroom, however, he has been an absolute train-wreck.
