Dallas Mavericks forward Lamar Odom reportedly asked the team for a buyout in February but was denied by team owner Mark Cuban.According to Yahoo!Sports, Odom went to Cuban and GM Donnie Nelson seeking a buyout, says a league source. Odom, who was acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, took time away from the team and was even considered for demotion to the NBA Development League.The reigning NBA Sixth-Man of the Year has underachieved in Dallas, averaging just 7.2 points after putting up 14.4 with the Lakers last season. The Mavericks are confident that Odom will find his form and become a big part of their efforts to repeat as NBA champions.“He seems to be more upbeat and involved,” the source said. “He’s trying now.”Odom scored just four points in Saturday’s win over San Antonio and is averaging only 3.2 points over his last five games.
