It's been a very long summer for San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker. Not only did he and the Spurs make it to the 2013 NBA Finals in June, he just finished summer play with Team France, capturing EuroBasket gold.
With the win, France qualifies for the 2014 World Cuop in Spain this summer, but if Team France wants to qualify for the Rio Olympic games, they might have to do it without Parker.
According to French site Journal du Dimanche, Tony's father, Tony Parker Sr., stated his son will skip the 2014 FIBA World Cup citing the need for rest and a focus on EuroBasket 205 and the 2016 Olympic games:
Via Basket USA:
"TP would have chosen to ignore the "World Cup" in Spain. Objective: To focus on the following two dates that are the Euro 2015 and the Olympics in Rio in 2016."
This news must have been music to the ears of the Spurs front office and entire organization.
The Spurs have in previous years have expressed their desire for Parker to limit his playing time for the French National Team. Case in point, this summer by GM R.C. Buford.
Especially since the Spurs are looking to make a big push to get Tim Duncan one more NBA ring before he rides off in to the sunset and directly in to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Following the injuries to Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Russell Westbrook that seriously hindered their teams, the NBA’s concern about the extra games being played may have some merit.
So Spurs’ fans, do you believe that the extra rest for Parker will yield Duncan that final ring?

As Sir Isaac Newton told us a while back, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Although Mr. Newton findings were not intended for the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker is finding himself agreeing with the world renowned physicist and mathematician.

At this point, everything Tony Parker accomplishes in his basketball career is just gravy. Parker is, and has been incredible as a playmaking point guard.

For San Antonio Spurs players Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, and Nando De Colo, their ending to the 2012-2013 NBA season wasn't the one they quite hoped for as they ended up losing to the Miami Heat in seven games of the 2013 NBA Finals, after being seconds away from closing the series in six games.
Sunday those three Spurs players found themselves with another championship opportunity...

By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…
There is no doubt that Kawhi Leonard is one of the rising young stars in the NBA and a probable future All Star and in his third season, he should become a focal point of this team. Last season he was already an elite defender, an excellent rebounder and an efficient...
San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker has everything you need from an NBA point guard. He can get to the rim, find the open man and knock down the outside shot.
But despite averaging 49 percent from the field, Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt has a message for Parker - he still needs to work on his outside shot and says it "sucks."
Obviously Bolt is teasing with Parker...
First, it was San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker's likeness getting etched into a guys hair. Then some kid had Matt Bonner's face cut into his hair and now it's Danny Green's turn to have the "honor" of having his face cut into a fan's hair.
Check out Green's face being cut into a fan's hair and although this may be a bit much for me to ever...

Team France captured EuroBasket gold thanks in part to San Antonio Spurs' Boris Diaw.
Aside from being a veteran presence for France, Diaw upped his game averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and shot 47 percent from the field in large part of Boris getting a lot more aggressive and motivated to win titles considering his time on the court is dwindling.
Former NBA player and Olympic gold medalist in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic games, Sam Perkins, now 52, has made it known that he approves of the influx of foreign players into the NBA.
So much so that he is weighing in on current foreign players and specifically San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker and Minnesota's Ricky Rubio.

The San Antonio Spurs have finally named the new head coach of the Austin Toros after Taylor Jenkins left to take a spot on Mike Budenholzer's bench in Atlanta back in July.
In a post about the loss of Jenkins back in July, I felt assistant Ken McDonald would be the obvious choice to succeed Jenkins because of his long track record with big programs like Texas and Western...
