According to ESPN, the San Antonio Spurs are interested in free agent forward Andrei Kirilenko. One of the teams that troubles Minnesota in Wolves' bid to retain Andrei Kirilenko: San Antonio. I'm told Spurs have AK-47 in their sights — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 1, 2013 Kirilenko is an 11-year NBA veteran and played with Minnesota last season. He averaged 12.4 points, 1 block, 1.5 steals, 5.7 rebounds and shot 50% from the field with Minnesota. For his career, he averages 12.4 points, 1.9 blocks, 1.4 steals, 5.6 rebounds and shoots 47%. "AK-47" would be quite the addition to the Spurs. He is versatile, has the ability to score int he paint, knock down the mid-range shot and excels on defense. He was a member of the 2006 all-NBA defensive first team, led the league in blocks in 2005, and was named to the all-NBA defensive second team twice (2004 and 2005). He was also an all-star in 2005. Moreover, the 6"9' forward would add depth to the big man corps heading into next season with DeJuan Blair likely to go elsewhere and could give valuable minutes on both ends of the court while Kawhi Leonard is on the bench. Kirilenko spent most of his NBA career with the Jazz (2001-2011) and saw action with CSKA Moscow (2011-2012) before returning to the NBA last season. The Spurs will use most of their cap space to re-sign Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili but if Kirilenko would be the perfect addition to the Spurs squad next season. Not to mention the Spurs do like foreign players and actively look overseas when adding to the team. What do you think Spurs fans? Should the Spurs go after "AK-47" or see who else is available in the free agency market.
