Spurs championship gear commercial airs

Many of you know that championship apparel for the losing team of a championship game or series often ends up being sent to developing countries. But what about championship apparel commercials for the losing team? Until now, I've never seen one but below is a commercial the has aired multiple times on NBA TV this evening.     While I'd love to get the championship...

This year, it's Russian champion and 2013 Euroleague semifinalist CSKA Moscow -- the former team of Timberwolves guard Alexey Shved and forward Andrei Kirilenko. As part of the...

The winding road of Tracy McGrady

Throughout much of the Finals, Tracy McGrady has been an obsession for the media. T-Mac was once the superstar of the NBA, a legitimate scoring champion and one of the best players in the league. There were legitimate arguments between McGrady and Kobe Bryant when McGrady was in the league. That is something you can forget when you watch McGrady, now at 34 years old and a time...

Brandon Roy: “My Basketball Days Are Numbered”

Brandon Roy took one last shot at life as an NBA player last season, when he signed on to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The old Brandon Roy might have led the Timberwolves to a playoff run.  This version of Brandon Roy may never walk or run pain-free. Roy now sits on the brink of retirement, and according to Kevin Pelton, won’t admit it’s over, but does say “his basketball...

Spurs Green denies partying with Heat after Finals loss

What do you do when your team suffers an agonizing defeat when a championship was within grasp? Well, if you're Danny Green, you go out to a Miami nightclub for a night of deafening loud music and mixed drinks. Unfortunately for Green, it also happened to be the same South Beach club that LeBron James and the Heat chose to celebrate their winning of the Larry O'Brien Trophy...

NBA TV runs commercial for San Antonio Spurs Championship Gear

I know that they make a commercial for each team to sell their championship apparel to their fans, but running both of them?  Everyone knows that the gear of the losing team gets sent off to a third world country, but apparently NBA TV didn’t pay closely attention enough to which ad they were supposed to be running.  I’m sure San Antonio Spurs fans would love towels and t-shirts...

NBA Finals Recap: San Antonio Spurs collapse but legacy remains

The San Antonio Spurs were “oh so close” to bringing home their fifth NBA title in 15 years.  When I say “oh so close,” I mean they were up five points, and they were 28 seconds away from likely reeling in the Larry O’Brien trophy (key word being likely.)  ”It isn’t over ’till it’s over” and “it isn’t over ’till the fat lady sings” are phrases that will...

Tim Duncan should not feel 'haunted'

Tim Duncan has had a career of pure excellence. For 16 seasons, it has been all about consistent winning, key plays and making himself and his teammates better. Rarely does Duncan let anything emote from him in victory or defeat just expecting victory like he was born to do it -- and he very well might have been. Duncan has faced plenty of adversity in his career, but maintained...

With no trades brewing, Wolves finish draft prep

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves' 2013 draft legwork is pretty much complete. Now, president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said, action gives way to reaction. "We have a list of 60 players -- 75, 60 guys on the draft board -- and all those players are based on, with our roster as it is, when the time comes, who are we going to pick," Saunders said...

Report: Spurs ‘in the mix’ for Greg Oden in free agency

Back in August 2012, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio wrote about how an NBA GM said the San Antonio Spurs were frontrunners to land free agent center Greg Oden. Fast forward to June 2013, just a day after the Miami Heat captured back-to-back titles, and now Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida is writing that the Spurs are in the mix of teams with the potential to sign Oden this...
