Reports state Mike Budenholzer is unlikely to get the Phoenix Suns coaching job
USA TODAY Sports

While former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer is not expected to remain without a job for too long, a report from Yahoo’s Jake Fischer has claimed that Phoenix will not be where Bud coaches next.

Not a likely candidate

The Phoenix Suns have been fairly quiet in their search for the coach who would succeed Monty Williams. According to sources that Fischer spoke to, Budenholzer is not someone the Suns are considering at the moment, although the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in his services.

“Former Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer, meanwhile, is not seen as a likely candidate for the Suns, sources said, while he’s among the six names Philadelphia is considering for its position,” wrote Fischer.

Budenholzer’s five-year stint with the Bucks ended earlier this month in spectacular fashion. The Bucks, which many considered to be the overwhelming favorite to capture the NBA title this season, flamed out in the first round and got bounced by the eighth-seeded Miami Heat in five games.

Coaching merry-go-round

Aside from Budenholzer and Williams, several prominent coaches were also given pink slips by their respective teams. This includes Nick Nurse, who steered the Toronto Raptors to the NBA not so long ago. Doc Rivers also got axed by the Sixers after the team blew a 3-2 lead in the second round to the Boston Celtics.
