Coming into the free agency period, Rip Hamilton, Jamal Crawford, and Jason Richardson were the three guys that Bulls fans seemed to have their eyes on. While the Richardson ended up re-signing with the Magic for $25 million over 4 years, the Bulls ended up having a chance at both Hamilton and Crawford, both very solid players.
Some murmurings have suggested that the Bulls went with Hamilton over Crawford because of defensive concerns, but in reality, I think both players aren’t too far off from each other defensively. I think the real reason the Bulls probably went with Hamilton over Crawford was that Hamilton operates without the ball a lot better than Crawford.
I think Tom Thibodeau will run a lot of those plays that they already run for Kyle Korver, for Richard Hamilton. I think they will look to Hamilton to fill that Ray Allen role of getting them 15-17 points a game, mostly off of jump shots.
