The Houston Rockets appear to be back on track after their longest losing streak of the season, but their next challenge will be a difficult one. A third consecutive victory won't come easy Monday night as the Rockets try to prevent the Utah Jazz from a seventh straight home win. Houston (24-22) has won two in a row and three of four after a seven-game skid. The Rockets' offense was slowed down during the slump, averaging 93.3 points per game compared to their 104.4 mark on the season, which is tied for second in the NBA. But the Rockets are averaging 103.5 over their last four games, including a 119-106 win against Brooklyn on Saturday. James Harden scored 29 points as Houston claimed significant advantages in rebounding (50-31) and points in the paint (60-24). Jeremy Lin credited a film session on Thursday for helping right the ship. "We weren't doing what we were supposed to do," said Lin, who had 14 points and nine assists. "The coaches showed us ...

Rockets fire on all cylinders in win over Nets

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets are an average team, but they are average in the most tantalizing way. The Rockets never play an average game. They either play great, or they play terribly. Seems like either the Rockets are drilling 3s all night or the other team is. This, perhaps, is an unintended consequence of the way they play. The Rockets like to get out wide and push the pedal...

Rockets Officially Reinstate Royce White

Perhaps the saga can come to a close soon now.  Royce White is once again a member of the Houston Rockets.  He will have to report to the Rockets' D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, but there is every indication that he will be able to work his way to the NBA team. The Rockets released their official statement last night.  It said in part:"The Houston...

Royce White to Report to Rockets’ D League Affiliate After Long Standoff With Team

HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets have reinstated suspended forward Royce White, and he’s due to report to the team’s developmental league affiliate Feb. 11. The 6-foot-8 White, the 16th overall pick in the last draft, has been on the inactive list all season as he worked on an arrangement with the team to balance his acknowledged anxiety disorder with the demands of the NBA schedule...

Rockets reinstate Royce White

Royce White has been extremely public in his battle with the Rockets to come up with a plan to handle his anxiety disorder. White has an overwhelming fear of flying, so much so that he had requested his team work with him to develop a plan that would manage his disorder while still allowing him to play. Houston seemed willing to do that. Yet, here we are halfway through what would...

SALT LAKE CITY -- Somebody forgot to tell the Houston Rockets that the Utah Jazz are one of the best home teams in the NBA. James Harden scored 25 points, Omer Asik grabbed 19 rebounds and the visiting Rockets annihilated the Jazz 125-80 on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena. The 45-point loss was the worst home defeat in Jazz franchise history and the fifth-largest loss margin...

Nets-Rockets Preview

The Brooklyn Nets are looking to re-establish their recent momentum, while the Houston Rockets are hoping they've already begun doing just that. The host Rockets may be feeling better about their chances Saturday night considering they're going for a 12th straight victory against the Nets. Brooklyn (26-17) had pulled within one game of Atlantic Division-leading New York...

Shootaround: Contrast of styles

Houston Rockets (24-22) vs. Utah Jazz (24-20) 9 p.m. When you think Utah Jazz, slow and plodding and pick and roll come to mind. While some of these perceptions of who the Jazz are may no longer be true -- they actually run the fewest pick and rolls in the league according to some estimations -- the Jazz are still built around one, sometimes seemingly outdated truth: If...
