ORLANDO, Fla. Romero Osby doesnt have to look far this week at the Orlando Pro Summer League to see that players chosen in the middle to later portions of the second round of the NBA draft can stick around months later when the regular season begins.
Two of his Orlando Magic teammates, Kyle OQuinn and Doron Lamb, are proof of that. So are Kim English and Khris Middleton of the Detroit Pistons.
He can even refer to the first round of this years playoffs, when Andrew Goudelock made the best of a horrible and dysfunctional situation enveloping the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers.
So the 6-foot-8 forward out of Oklahoma, who became a more efficient scorer during his two years after transferring from Mississippi State, knows the odds arent astronomically long. And to him, the secret isnt much of a secret at all.
Just play hard. The rest of that stuff is going to come, Osby said. Its the NBA. Youve got the best trainers, the best coaches in the world. So youre going to continue to get...
BEST OF MAXIM
ORLANDO, Fla. On his first offensive possession Sunday as a member of the Orlando Magic, hours after signing his first professional contract, Victor Oladipo wasnt thinking in terms of shooting first.
His deference to his teammates might have been understandable, considering he was the only starter for the Magics entry in the Orlando Pro Summer League not to be a member of team...
So far, the best highlight of the 2013 Orlando Summer League is this clip of Orlando Magic rookie Victor Oladipo singing Michael Buble’s “Everything” for the fine folks over at NBA TV: This isn’t the first time that Victor has belted a tune as you can see from the below clips:
Stan Van Gundy has an NBA career winning percentage of .641. Thats better than what was put up by Pat Riley, Jerry Sloan, Don Nelson, Larry Brown, Lenny Wilkens, Chuck Daly and several other Hall of Fame coaches. He might not have to worry about ever falling behind any of those guys.Van Gundy, fired in May 2012 as coach of the Orlando Magic, sat out last year and in May told an Orlando...

Crossover Chronicles' Philip Rossman-Reich will be at the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League all week. He will provide his thoughts on the day's action in this running post throughout the day.

Jeremy Lamb had the ball in his hands in the final moment and pulled off a quick crossover to freeze Maurice Harkless...
The Orlando Magic are progressing in buyout talks with Hedo Turkoglu.
Turkoglu is still on the contract signed with the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 offseason.
Turkoglu has $6 million guaranteed on his $12 million salary for the 13-14 season.
Jeremy Lamb was not having a great shooting day for the Thunder. Confidence though is all about taking the next shot. And Lamb is not short on that. Even late in a game where his team was trailing for much of it -- in Summer League, no less -- and needed timely shooting to get there.
The Thunder found their offense and Lamb found his shot in the end.
Lamb blew by Victor Oladipo...
Victor Oladipo did not want to be the one to take the first shot. That is not who he is. As some joked after the game that he was a superstar he calmly said, "Not yet."
When the game was truly on the line however, it was Oladipo the Magic needed to turn to and make a play. It may just be Summer League, but Oladipo seemed fine with that moment for the time being.
Greetings from Amway Center for Day 3 of the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League. I will ahve more from Summer League throughout the day (and in the coming weeks as I go through all the interviews and notes I have).
For now though, as we near the midway point of the festivities, I took some stock of what we have seen from the Magic and from the Summer League in general...
I have a sinking suspicion that Oklahoma City’s Kyle Kuric would like this end-of-game lay-up back against the Orlando Magic at the Orlando Summer League.
As the Thunder lead by one with less than 7 seconds to play, Thunder guard Jeremy Lamb took the ball from Andrew Nicholson and threw it ahead to Kuric for the uncontested lay-up.
That’s when Kuric blew his open lay-up and gave...

After a fortnight involving a unseemly coaching departure, the hiring of a new young coach, and saying goodbye to two of the most prominent players in the history of the franchise, Sunday afternoon gave the Boston Celtics...
