I’m going to try and give Royce White some breathing room on this one. According to CBS3 in Philadelphia, White did not travel to Spain for the Sixers preseason game on Sunday against Bilbao. The Sixers will also travel travel to Manchester, England for a preseason game on Tuesday against the Thunder. Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer also confirmed for me that White was not in Spain. #Sixers coach Brett Brown said Royce White isn't in Europe per team doctor recommendations, — Keith Pompey (@PompeyOnSixers) October 4, 2013 During the team’s media day gathering, White stated that he would fly to most games, drive to the ones he could, and definitely make the trip to Europe. White gets the benefit of the doubt this time because it was the team doctors wishes. We’re watching you @Highway_30

Report: Royce White did not fly with Sixers to Europe

The Philadelphia 76ers flew to Europe on Thursday morning in an attempt, much like that of Oklahoma City Thunder, who they will play on Tuesday, to broaden their fan base overseas. The Sixers will play Spanish team, Bilbao Basket, on Sunday, but they’ll be without recent acquisition, Royce White, as reports say White did not make the trip. Not with Sixers in Europe, but source...

Royce White did not travel to Europe with 76ers

We're running out of steam with covering former first-round pick Royce White. White didn't play a single game for the Rockets last season and bucked at having to play in the D-League feuding with the team about "treatment" for his social anxiety the whole season. White was traded to the 76ers and former Rockets assistant GM Sam Hinkie over the summer and talked...

Development of rookie Carter-Williams a team effort

Brett Brown has been unabashedly honest in saying that the development of Michael Carter-Williams is one of his highest priorities this season. The first-year 76ers coach also said he'll be getting help in that realm leaning upon second-year guard Tony Wroten to bring along the rookie point guard out of Syracuse. “It's a big-boy stage and there's a physicality Tony...

Royce White Doesn't Travel With 76ers To Europe

Royce White did not make the trip with the Philadelphia 76ers to Europe. White was acquired via trade this offseason from the Houston Rockets. White suffers from anxiety disorder, including a fear of flying. White had planned to make the flight, but the 76ers decided to "give him a pass."

Popovich says how Spurs should handle Finals loss

Since squandering a shot at capturing title No. 5, the San Antonio Spurs have collectively been kicking themselves over the summer. From Gregg Popovich, Tony Parker to Manu Ginobili, the loss to the Heat has been weighing on the team's collective mind but with the new season inching closer, it will be time to put the disappointment behind. And leave it to Popovich to...

Danny Green's Off-Season Improvements

SAN ANTONIO - By now everyone knows the story of San Antonio Spurs' Danny Green’s ascent from virtual nobody, to record holder for most 3-pointers made in an NBA Finals series. And even though most players would be satisfied with their role on a championship caliber team, and newly acquired NBA Finals record, Green is the opposite.   Job security in the NBA is extremely...

Video: Spotlight on camp invitee Nwaelele

San Antonio Spurs training camp invitee Dan Nwaelele is the underdog to make the final roster. However, when it comes to what defines being a Spurs, he has all that and more. Dan, who had to serve a 5-year Army commitment, is getting a shot at the NBA with the Spurs and aside from being a great shooter, he is the right attitude and focus to hopefully raise some eyebrows in camp...

Evan Turner thought he’d be traded from Sixers this summer

There’s no question that the Philadelphia 76ers are in the first year of a full-fledged rebuilding situation with the franchise essentially starting from scratch. They have a new GM in Sam Hinkie and didn’t even bother to hire a new head coach in Brett Brown until August — well after the draft had already taken place. It isn’t about the upcoming season in Philadelphia; it’s...

Gani Lawal Signs Multi-Year Deal With 76ers

Gani Lawal has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a multi-year contract worth partial salary guarantees, league sources told RealGM. A physical, athletic forward at 6-foot-9, Lawal had a breakout professional season with Virtus Roma and received substantial interest from NBA teams entering the offseason. Ultimately, Lawal signed with a Latvian team but was pried out of the deal...

MATE WITH A MISSION

Australia can’t be a basketball country can it? Jamaicans couldn’t be bobsledders either until Irving Blitzer realized the potential they had and led them to the Calgary Olympics in the classic Disney movie “Cool Runnings”. So what do new 76ers coach Brett Brown and Irving Blitzer have in common? The answer: They both helped start a great movement. As Brown and the 76ers...

Belinelli seeks role as Ginobili Jr.

How you feel about Marco Belinelli will likely depend on how you feel about Manu Ginobili. Make no mistake — Belinelli is no Ginobili. Rather he’s a watered-down version of the aging yet still-potent dynamo the Spurs had no doubts about re-signing even after a wildly inconsistent Finals. Considering Ginobili at 36 is a watered-down version of his own best self that isn’t...

Throwback Thursday: Arenas vs McGrady

With NBA training camps already in full swing, and the season only a few weeks away, we pulled an NBA classic montage out of the archives. It’s also a tribute to Tracy McGrady who retired over the past summer. The date was March 10, 2004. Wizards v. Magic. Gilbert Arenas v. Tracy McGrady. 2 guys who loved to shoot. On this night, it all went through the nets. Without further...

Royce White didn’t travel with Sixers to Europe for preseason

Sixers Royce White said before the start of NBA training camp that he had plans to travel with the team to Europe for preseason action despite his anxiety disorder. Looks as if Royce was quite ready for that leap of faith, and instead stayed in Philly while the team hits up Spain and England. “It really was just based on our team doctor giving me and Sam (Henkie, Sixers GM) and...
