Ricky Rubio is finally here. The 21-year-old point guard joins the Minnesota Timberwolves this season after he was drafted by them fifth overall in 2009. But he spent two years in his native Spain before coming to the United States to fulfill his dream of playing in the NBA.Rubio hasnt played a game yet, but he has already created a bit of a buzz around the Twin Cities, as Wolves fans are eager to see something new after last years 17-win season. Rubio has high expectations, but the rookie feels hes ready. Here are five questions with Ricky Rubio.1.At any point were you worried that there would be no season because of the lockout? Rubio: Maybe (two weeks ago) I was a little worried that there wouldnt be an agreement and they were too far away. I was thinking about coming back to Spain, but with the last three or four days before the news come, they said theres going to be an agreement soon. Maybe (two weeks ago) I was a little worried, but the other ones I was like normal.2.Do you feel a sense of pressure to perform since fans have waited two years to see what you can do? Rubio: Of course there is pressure. Not only for me, for everybody. Everybodys excited for this team. Its been bad the last two years, but we can improve. We have to improve. We are young. We can do it, but we have to trust in us. They are doing it already. We have to come back with this and try to not feel the pressure, but we know that we have to give (the fans) an answer. I dont really think about pressure. Of course there is, but I dont want to think about it. I just am enjoying it because its like a dream for me.3.You played a little bit with former Timberwolf Kevin Garnett in Los Angeles this summer. Did he give you any advice about playing in Minnesota? Rubio: More than on playing here. He gave me some advice to live. He said people over here (are) really nice. Youre going to feel a lot of comfortable. The fans are amazing because even if those years are not great years in the Wolves, theyre still coming and theyll still support you. They love basketball. They love you if you do the right things, you work hard. Theyre going to give support (to) you.4.How do you think the shortened preseason will affect this young team? Rubio: Its going to be hard, because we have a new coach, new players, young players, too. Its going to be hard in the beginning. Maybe its worse for us because we need time to improve, to be together, to put new offense, new defense and a new coach. I think we are young, so these games we are playing a lot, four or five per week, were young and we can handle that.5.What do you think of American culture so far? Rubio: Its good. I prefer Im sorry, dont be mad at me, but I prefer the Spanish food because I love it. Over here, you can do a lot of things. The things are bigger (here) than they are, all the things. If you buy chips, its like a big, big box of chips. I really like the way the people live here, because they are so nice. People try to help you all the time. I really like the people here.
