Earlier today, Hoops World reported that the likelihood of Pau Gasol being dealt exists as the now 32 year old big man suffers through the worst season of his career. Of course, this is not the first time the Big Llama has been on the trading block. Gasol was nearly dealt for Chris Paul before last season, and the rumors of a multi-team trade that would involve both Pau and Rajon Rondo began circulating at the trade deadline last season. Gasol is set to make $38.3 million dollars over the next two seasons (including this one) and is dealing with tendinitis in both knees at the moment. Now normally an expensive, aging, declining big man would not be able to draw much attention on the open market. Unless of course you could find another expensive, aging, declining big man. Perhaps one that is currently out of action while his team flourishes without him and used to play with the Lakers new coach and point guard. I mean stuff like that is what rumors are made of, too bad there's no...

  • Oh hell to the NO! Spaniard? Why r we tryin' to bring back the SUNs? Last I recall, they never won any championships! This is a sabotage....lol!
  • agree with davidf21. looks like D'antoni is trying to recreate his Phx Suns teams with Nash, Amare. No doubt with Nash and Kobe's input. Read that they were interested in Rajah Bell, who I always liked as a defender. So, who's next Marion, Barbosa, Diaw?? So instead of an aged Lakers team, we'll have an aged Suns team.
Pau clearly doesn't run the floor well but why not give up some of his minutes to Jordan Hill and Antawn Jamieson, both of whom are good backup PFs. Pau's versatility is so much better than Amare's.
  • ARE YOU CRAZY!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS WILL DO TO THE LAKERS. I WISH THIS WERE TRUE. I JUST AM JUST AWE STRUCK ON HOW PEOPLE CAN FANTASIZE. FIRST OF ALL NEW YORK WOULD NOT GIVE AWAY ONE OF IT'S BIG MAN NOR THE LAKERS FOR THAT MATTER FOR GASOL. NOT HAPPENING BUDDY. THIS IS JUST STETCHING YOUR PANTS TILL YOUR ZIPPER BREAKS. WHY WOULD NEW YORK WANT THE LAKERS TO WIN.

Mike D’Antoni Shoots Down Pau Gasol Trade Rumors

While Pau Gasol continues to struggle in the new Lakers speed ball offense, averaging a career low 13.4 points per game, Mike D’Antoni defended his starting power forward against the inevitable trade rumors and said contrary to outside belief, he thinks Gasol actually fits in his system: According to the LA Daily News: “I don’t get it,” Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said...

Gasol may be odd man out in L.A.

Pau Gasol’s season got off to a rough start. He clearly didn’t fit into Mike Brown’s Princeton offense and now Mike D’Antoni at the helm isn’t going any better. Gasol is posting career lows in points (13.1) and shooting percentage (42.3%) due to the fact that he’s forced out of the paint by Dwight Howard and taking more outside shots. While Pau is capable of knocking...

Lakers' Pau Gasol Playing Through Knee Injury

It's nothing serious.  For now.  But Pau Gasol has been playing through knee tendinitis.  The Los Angeles Lakers' forward has complained about getting touches and has not looked as good as he has in years past.  Part of this, of course, is age, but the other part could be the knee problem.Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times says Gasol has been dealing with the tendinitis...

Pau Gasol has knee tendinitis which could be why his game has suffered

According to a report by CBS Sports, Lakers forward Pau Gasol is dealing with knee tendinitis.  This could be a reason why his numbers and performance have not been in great shape lately.  The media and critics have been blaming head coach Mike D’Antoni and his new system as leaving Pau Gasol out of the loop, but the offense could just be an excuse.  Even his own teammate, Kobe...

Lakers Aren't Seeking Trade Of Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol trade chatter had increased in recent days in the media, but the Lakers are not looking to trade him.

Pau Gasol Battling Knee Tendinitis

Gasol got benched during the Memphis game last week and then the chatter started. Pau told reporters that he wanted more touches in the paint, and the lack of them, is throwing his game off. Well he got them against the Mavs and the Lakers pulled off an impressive win. Pau later told reporters that he has been dealing with knee tendinitis all month and is trying his best to play...

Would the Lakers trade Gasol to a Foe?

That was a question that was asked in a Hoopsworld article. Pau Gasol has been a great fit so far in Mike D'Antoni's Lakers' "Run-N-Gun Lite" (since Steve Nash isn't running things) version of his old Phoenix Suns offense from years ago. You can understand Gasol's frustration with that system since it's a purely offensive heavy system with that...

Buzz Wire- November 28th, 2012

November 28 Mike D’Antoni on Pau Gasol trade rumors: “I don’t get it. That definitely doesn’t come from us….It’s like New York, this is Los Angeles, that’s what you all do and that’s good. You all talk and most of it’s wrong. But it does get people interested and that’s good. I’m OK with that …”-Dave McMenamin Darren Collison on not starting vs. Philly:...

Who Wants Pau Gasol?

It is no secret that Gasol is struggling with the Lakers, as Dwight Howard has pushed Gasol out of the post, where he is at his best. Howard works best with a stretch forward who plays on the outside, while he just dominates the paint. This tandem with Gasol and Howard simply is not working, as Gasol is averaging under 13 points per game. The team would be wise to trade Gasol while...

Stop pooh pooing over Pau, here’s why!

Last night Pau Gasol continued his disappointing start by posting 10/9/3 and a block in 32 minutes. Suddenly I’m getting questions from the left about him. I’m getting questions from the right. I’m getting questions from above and below! I’m getting questions everywhere, man! I’m like the guy that got food thrown at him by lots of people at the same time and am trying to...

Trade targets for the Boston Celtics

Christmas decorations are still going up and trade talk has already begun to swirl around the Boston Celtics.  The team’s rebounding woes and inconsistent defense combined with a potentially crowded backcourt and, of course, Danny Ainge’s reputation has led to talk about several names that may be available. Pau Gasol The Lakers’ early struggles have [...]

Gasol has reason for lack of hustle

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol has a reason for what his coach and Kobe Bryant think is a lack of hustle.  He has tendinitis in both knees.   "It was just something that started flaring up in the preseason," Gasol told ESPN after practice Monday. "I didn't want to stop, and I don't want to stop now. I just don't have that luxury." Gasol...
