The Detroit Sports Site:
Ryan Anderson scored 31 points in 31 minutes to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 105-86 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Palace on Monday night.
Detroit was coming off back-to-back wins over the weekend, but true to the Pistons’ form in this roller-coaster season, they fell flat with a chance to really generate some momentum. Greg Monroe had 17 points and 11 boards, while Rodney Stuckey poured in 19 off the bench.
BEST OF MAXIM
The Detroit Pistons are a bit shorthanded up front with Andre Drummond sidelined for upwards of a month by a back injury, and GM Joe Dumars has made a concerted effort to free up salary for a run at free agents next summer.
Neither of those factors, however, left the Pistons interested in San Antonio forward DeJuan Blair. From ESPN’s Chris Broussard:
SA offered D Blair to Detroit...
Andre Drummond, the Pistons’ rookie who has shown flashes of outright brilliance and dominance, is getting quite the unique treatment for his injured back. Drummond is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to the injury, but he can still be seen at Pistons shootarounds . . . playing the bongos. That is not a typo. When asked why he was playing the bongos, Drummond replied, “This is...
The Pistons announced Friday that rookie, Andre Drummond, would miss 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his back - taking him out of the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star weekend. According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, Orlando’s rookie power forward, Andrew Nicholson, will replace Drummond at the event next weekend in Houston.
Orlando’s Andrew Nicholson chosen...
For those who have been fortune enough to either play with or help coach Jose Calderon during 7-year NBA career, the one word you often hear used should not come as a shock: professional.
Regardless if he was running the show in Toronto, fending off annual trade rumors and now even during his early days in Detroit, Calderon remains a true pro since being traded to the Pistons back...
As comedian Dave Chappelle once said, "Everything is better in slow motion" and this advertisement by Red Bull featuring New Orleans Hornets rookie Anthony Davis stays true to the fact. The advertisement was shot in New Orleans and shows a progressive of Davis playing hoops in a darkly-lit gymnasium while he provides a voiceover. It's pretty impressive if I do say so myself:
All-Star Weekend nears
The Portland Trail Blazers will face off against the New Orleans Hornets to conclude a six-game road trip Wednesday night, and they could desperately use a win heading into All-Star Weekend.
Matchup: Portland (25-27) @ New Orleans (18-34)
Venue: New Orleans Arena
Time: 5:00 PM PT
Date: Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013
The road trip hasn’t gone as well as fans...
At this point no one is claiming that the Pistons are a good team but you’d at least expect more of an effort against one of the NBA’s worst.
Monday night the Pistons put up a pathetic performance en route to a 105-86 blowout loss at the hands of the New Orleans Hornets.
Their shooting from the field was horrific going to just 29 of 18 for just 35.8 percent while the absence...
As Andre Drummond recovers from a back injury suffered last week, he will be replaced by Andrew Nicholson in the upcoming Rising Stars Game during the NBA's ALl-Star weekend. Drummond is expected to miss a month due to the injury, so it has opened the door for Nicholson to shine.According to Kurt Helin of ProBasketball Talk, Nicholson has been selected as Drummond's replacement...
The All-Star break may not be coming soon enough for No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis, who has shown signs of hitting "the wall."
Davis and the New Orleans Hornets try to wrap up a three-game road swing with a winning mark Monday night when they play the Detroit Pistons.
While Davis - averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 37 games - was selected to participate...
Each weekend, we will highlight the trends, rumors and stories going around the NBA that we may miss during the busy week.
I noted this in the Starting 5 this morning after Charlie Villanueva hit the game-winning 3-pointer for Detroit in Milwaukee. Charlie Villanueva has had a rought four years. He signed a 5-year deal in 2009 and has failed to live up to...
Our buddy @WorldofIsaac ventured to the Palace of Auburn Hills last night for the Pistons-Hornets game and snapped this shot of the massive crowd that turned out to watch New Orleans win, 105-86. The announced attendance was 10,177. The place holds 22,000.
As you can see, there are four upper deck sections without a single customer. Sure, we’re talking about the 20 win Pistons...
