San Antonio Spurs: Tiago Splitter Resigning Grade By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff… Contract: 4 years, 36 million dollars - Tiago Splitter was the Spurs’ second best big man this season and although he did not play too much in the NBA Finals, it was purely for defensive reasons, as they played small ball and used Boris Diaw, because of his defensive play. Splitter is one of the better post players offensively in the NBA and if given a bigger role, he can easily be the number one option down low for a team and since this contract is for four years, they are probably hoping that he will become that once Tim Duncan retires. His per 36 minute numbers were excellent at around 15 points and 9.5 rebounds and he shot an incredible 56% from the field. Splitter is still only 28 and the former European superstar may just be entering his prime, as this will just be his third season in the NBA. 9 million per year may seem steep for a player who only averaged 10 points and 6 rebound...
