Don't look for the San Antonio Spurs to make a major move before Thursday's trade deadline.
ESPN's Ric Bucher reported that the Spurs are likely to stand pat. Bucher debunked the Jefferson rumor, writing that it "never had substance to it."
NBA insider Chris Sheridan floated the idea of the Spurs making a play for Jefferson, even calling the Western Conference power "the front-runners to land" Jefferson.
Interest in Smith "died upon discovering that Josh
simply didn't have the requisite Spurs' DNA," Bucher wrote. One former coach believes Smith would benefit from playing for Greg Popovich and with Tim Duncan.
Former NBA coach Sam
Mitchell told me today that playing for the Spurs would be a great
benefit to Smith and I agree; he's never struck me as a malcontent or
bad guy or purposely undisciplined. He might not have Spurs' DNA now,
but I believe he wouldn't reject a transfusion and it would make the
most of the raw talent he clearly has.

For a while now it has seemed like the clock was running out on DeJuan Blair’s time with the San Antonio Spurs. The fourth year big man has seen his minutes reduced this season, only seeing the floor in blowouts and when the starters need some extra rest.
Blair isn’t bringing much to the table. It’s not his fault. The Spurs are just so deep that they don’t really need...

With weeks of the San Antonio Spurs seemingly having a tryout for who ultimately will backup Tony Parker with their abundance in point guards, it seems Nando De Colo may have won the spot.
De Colo, a rookie this year in the NBA, has played well for the team especially when he's had to start. That may have been what pushed him over Patrick Mills and Gary Neal for the backup...

It's not often that we get to post about San Antonio Spurs back-up guard Patty Mills but this one was too good not to add to our library. The below clip shows Patty showing off his unique towel skills that he uses during games from the bench area. So, if you want to learn how to wave a towel like Patty, here you go:
For years the San Antonio Spurs were known as Tim Duncan's team. Everything went through Duncan, the offense and defense along with laying down the foundation of the Spurs' philosophy of treating every player on the roster the same. He was treated and coached the same way the last guy on the bench was. The team was a slow paced team, looking to drain the shot clock as much...
HOUSTON – Sunday was San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker’s fifth All-Star game of his career, and though each experience at the All-Star game has been great for Parker, Sunday was a bit more different because of Parker’s Spurs-affiliated company.
Parker got to play in what could possibly be Tim Duncan’s last All-Star game of his career. After the game, Parker spoke about...
"He picked up where he left off before he left All-Star break," said San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich of his All-Star point guard Tony Parker on Tuesday.
After 48-minutes of basketball, Parker guided the Spurs to a 108-102 victory over the Sacramento Kings in a game in which Parker scored 30 points and collected 11 assists. Parker received help from his Spurs...
DeJuan Blair will be a free agent at season's end and had been deemed an asset the San Antonio Spurs could trade.
Many of you guys might not know this, but Patty Mills, the Australian gunner of the San Antonio Spurs has quite a name for himself among the Spurs community. While most NBA fans are familiar with the new phenomenon of Robert Sacre’s Yosemite Sam guns and karate chops on the Lakers’ sideline, or Kent Bazemore’s general craziness on the Golden State Warriors bench. Patty...
A lot of us are too young to remember, but in the early 90's, Nike had a pretty good ad campaign running with San Antonio Spurs great David Robinson. Mister Robinson's Neighborhood was one of Nike's cleverest campaigns. Nike's relationship with Robinson through the 90's, including when they debuted their Air Max line of shoe. Now, Nike is bring back their...
The San Antonio Spurs keep getting mentioned as a gold-standard for professional sports organizations. They deserve it as they stay a winner consistently year to year.
They had an amazing year in 2012, as they played in 119 regular season and playoff games.
At the All-Star break this year, the Spurs have the NBA’s best record at 42-12, 2.5 games ahead of the nearest competition...
The last time the San Antonio Spurs carried away the NBA crown was in 2007 when they swept LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, the team has been in a drought. They have gotten close like last year when they marched to the Western Conference Finals but came up short against the Thunder and will look to win it all again this season.
Spurs owner Peter Holt recently...
