San Antonio Spurs: Why These Spurs Will Win The West By Mike Elworth The San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies will start the Western Conference Finals on Sunday, which should be a hard fought slugfest. These are 2 of the 4 top defensive teams in the conference and 2 of the hardest playing teams in the NBA, so this series will be a very physical matchup, with the scoreboard most likely staying on the low side. Both teams are very capable of dominating a team on defense, but the Spurs have a major advantage on offense. The Grizzlies may have the top defense in the NBA and an elite big man duo, in Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol on offense, but other than that pair and Mike Conley, they do not have any true offensive threats on the roster, but their defense has bailed them out on many occasions throughout the year.
