One of the staples of San Antonio’s championship teams was defense. No matter how much they struggled, everyone, including their opponents, knew that the Spurs could play lock down D at any given time. San Antonio’s struggles this season, especially on the road, is not from a lack of offense. Ok, maybe a little bit, but they have absolutely struggled to play defense both on the road and at home. This team, ever since Bruce Bowen left, has been lacking a stopper. Gary Neal has played well, but he has definitely not been as effective as Bruce Bowen was. Bowen was an up in your face, hands all over, do whatever it takes to play defense defender. San Antonio is lacking that physicality, and it is painful to watch at times. Once San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili suffered a fractured hand, Gary Neal was quickly brought back to the fold, however, he was on his way to Austin to join the Toros to rehab after undergoing appendectomy surgery. So with perhaps the shortest stint in the D-League, was Neal ready to jump right back into the Spurs and contribute especially after coming off surgery? You bet...

Spurs Need To Get Road Wins

San Antonio has a horrible road record this season, and at 0-4, they need to improve in a hurry. In their fourth road game, they finally eclipsed the 100 point barrier, but still inexcusably to the Milwaukee Bucks. For a team that is hoping to make the playoffs, the Spurs have got to finish teams when they have the opportunity. I understand the road loss to the Rockets, playing on...
