Los Angeles Lakers (30-30) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (43-16)
The Lakers have made it back to .500. That normally is not a cause celebre in Laker-land, not with that Hall of Fame lineup and those championship expectations. Yet, Sunday's win over Atlanta proved to be an important morale-boosting win for the Lakers. Getting back to .500 is a sign Los Angeles is closer to its goal.
That goal might be just making the playoffs at the moment. That is something nobody thought they would say.
The goal is indeed getting closer and the Lakers are making ground. But for every step forward Los Angeles seems to make, the team meets a road block that keeps it from getting over the top. Not to mention that the Jazz and the Rockets have to help by losing soem games to allow Los Angeles to get back into the Playoff picture.
The Lakers though inevitably will not have home court advantage. So winning on the road against one of the top teams in the West is a must for...

OKLAHOMA CITY Did Dwight Howard rush his way back into the Lakers' lineup?
He had back surgery last April, was traded to the Lakers in August and started his comeback by playing two exhibition games last November. He tried not to second-guess his decision Tuesday a few hours before his 55th regular-season game.
"Looking back on it, I could have sat out the whole season...
At least somebody still has a high opinion of Dwight Howard. His old buddy, Josh Smith, weighed in on Howard’s impending free agency, not only sharing his thoughts on his friend’s future but also offering a glimpse into the big fella’s soul.
In an eyebrow-raising interview with the Los Angeles Daily News over the weekend, Smith said “it would be a shock to me” if Howard...
Phil Jackson has always been a great motivator and a master manipulator. His latest move might actually impact the Laker franchise in a way nobody ever imagined. Jackson has become a mentor of Dwight Howard’s and has been text messaging the Lakers center. Dwight is having a rough season in his first with the Lakers. He’s still getting into shape and having issues related to...
The New Orleans Hornets blew a 25-point lead and lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 108-102 Wednesday. After committing supremely idiotic plays like this one, you can’t help but say they deserved to lose.
The Lakers faked out the Hornets on an inbounds play with 25.5 seconds left in the game by lining up on the side of the court they were defending, not the one they were attacking...
Not sure what made the Hornets forget to guard Kobe Bryant, but with less than 30 seconds left in a two point ball game, Kobe squeezes through the New Orleans Hornet defenders for an easy dunk. Bryant scored 42-points in the L.A. Lakers 108-102 victory.
Kobe Bryant got the Lakers back to a .500 record (30-30) after a 34 point night that included the go-ahead layup with nine seconds left. Apparently the Black Mamba is also a big Entourage fan as he celebrated Los Angeles’ win by high-fiving with Entourage star, Jeremy Piven (Air Gold).
Since Kobe Bryant and his Lakers are playing right now against the OKC Thunder, I might as well post this look I missed from him during the NBA All Star Weekend.I like to keep my material fresh and up-to-date, but umm, YOLO(On this post). At the 2013 NBA Celebrity All-Star game, Kobe wore a chic printed $595 Givenchy Cotton Modal Airplane Scarf. The vintage military design of this...
In case you haven’t heard by now, the Los Angeles Lakers staged an incredible, emotional comeback against the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. The Lakers trailed by as much as 25 points in the game, and finished the contest on a 20-0 run to pull of an improbable 108-102 road win. There were a ton of huge plays for the team on the night, but was bigger than Dwight Howard’s...
The Los Angeles Lakers have done a lot to regain some momentum over the past month. After their disappointing 17-25 start to the season, they went 13-5 to make it back to .500. They had people believing they were a playoff team, maybe even a team that could challenge for the Western Conference title.
However, the Oklahoma City Thunder brought the Lakers back down to earth last...
The Big Leagues The Lakers guard posterizes Josh Smith, then hits game-winner for good measure.
Kobe Bryant is in his 17th season in the NBA. Many expected the superstar to finally start showing his age this season and begin to slow down, but by all accounts that has not been the case. Shooting a career high in FG%, the Black Mamba is showing us that he still has plent left [...]
The MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference has quickly become a favorite of stat geeks, scribes and executives in the sports industry.
The conference is in full swing up in Boston and several NBA owners and executives are either speaking or attending the event, including San Antonio Spurs GM R.C. Buford.
It didn't take long for those in attendance, including Buford to...
