Getting traded is just a fact of life for an NBA player. Many of the greats have been traded such as Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, George Gervin and Shaquille O'Neal.
It just happens, and like they say in the NBA, it's just business. But not for new Dallas Maverick's forward Lamar Odom. According to Charles Barkley, he thinks Odom is just not over getting traded from the Lakers.
Lamar Odom is just mentally out of it. It's like he was so offended that the Lakers wanted to trade him - it's like he's not there right now. He's a real good player. But it seems like he went through a divorce ... and he's just out of it. He's not even close to being the same guy. And he's a heck of a guy. But it seems like he was so shook up and he hasn't snapped out of it.
Odom's stats so far in this shortened season pale in comparison to his stint last season with the Lakers. Currently, he is averaging 6.7 points while shooting 28% from the field in 10...

Super Bowl commercials are supposed to be fun, memorable and creative. But according to several reports, Mark Cuban will be part of an advertisement that some consider to be offensive.
The Dallas Mavericks owner has already filmed a spot for Skechers shoes that is scheduled to air during the two-minute warning in the first half of Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5. The commercial reportedly...
The news had barely been a few hours old about the pending end of the 2011 NBA lockout before fans of the reigning NBA champion Dallas Mavericks wondered if owner Mark Cuban and the rest of the powers that be would bring back the likes of JJ Barea, Tyson Chandler and DeShawn Stevenson for a shot at a repeat.
Well, all three integral members of last season's championship-winning...
Come on, Dirk. You know better than that. When you are one of the world’s most famous and beloved athletes, you can’t be eating meat on television. Only barbarians do that. The commercial you see above that features reigning NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki recently caused an outrage among the vegetarian community.
According to a translation of a German newspaper article...
Delonte West has been the center of attention the last few days. First he grabbed headlines when he said he was banned from visiting the White House along with his Mavericks teammates. Later that evening he went on an extensive Twitter rant where he said he didn’t want to be the media’s sideshow.
West says he regrets his comments and the negative attention he’s received. He’d...
As several NBA sleuths figured out, the guys were in their seats -- purported to cost $750 -- and Dallas' Vince Carter was in the stands, so to speak, instead of on the bench, thus providing the optical illusion.
Talk about the best way to take in some NBA action.A couple of lucky Dallas Mavericks fans got to do what perhaps any NBA fan would want to do during a game -- sit on the bench with their favorite team. That's right, two guys were able to sit on the Mavs' bench and even were drinking some booze. One also decided the "cool" thing to do is to wear sunglasses inside...
Losing center Tyson Chandler was considered a huge blow to the Dallas Mavericks' road to defending their NBA throne. Chandler anchored the Mavs' defense with intimidation around the rim, rebounding, blocked shots and the occasional offensive output.
And as much as the loss of Chandler is having its ripple effects for Dallas so far this season, Mavs center Ian Mahinmi feels...
Mavericks guard Jason Terry has never been shy about voicing his opinion or talking trash. Most of the time he talks before and after games, but Wednesday, he threw a jab at the Celtics during the game.
While doing a halftime interview with ESPN, Terry complimented Rajon Rondo while blasting the rest of Boston’s roster.
“He’s the only one with energy on their team,” Terry...
An odd spectacle took place Tuesday night in Detroit as two Pistons fans got the luxury of taking in the game on the Dallas Mavericks bench!Watch as the bearded dudes sit, drink and shoot the breeze -- much to the dismay/delight of Mavs veteran Vince Carter.Despite their home squad taking a 100-86 defeat to the chin, the guys seemed to have a good time anyway.
Dirk Nowitzki did not get many of the shots he and his Mavericks teammates wanted during a 90-85 win over the Celtics last night. In fact, Nowitzki did not get many shots, period.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 18 points, and the Mavericks reached the .500 mark by routing the Pistons 100-86 on Tuesday night.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points, driving past Kevin Garnett for the go-ahead layup with 5.1 seconds left and leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 90-85 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
