Philly Sports World:
Sixers F Dorrell Wright
It has been reported that the Sixers have acquired New Orleans 6-11 Center Darryl Watkins, in a three team deal. Watkins, who has played 14 total NBA games in five seasons, five of those games last season. Last season with New Orleans, he played 19 minutes a game scoring 4.6 points per game and had 5.4 rebounds.
Should we get excited yet? The idea of having another big man is certainly better than another small forward. Despite last year’s numbers in his brief stint with the Hornets let’s not get too excited yet. 14 games in two seasons over a five-year span. Watkins, I guess makes some sense if you are expecting an injury to Spencer Hawes.
The Sixers also added outside shooting threat Dorell Wright from Golden State. Wright is another small forward, but has shot a career 36.5% from beyond the arc. Wright is likely Jodie Meeks’ replacement.
