“Coach says that now”, confident Allen wants to start

Just after signing Kwame Brown to a two-year deal the second year being a player option, Coach Collins declared Brown the starter. Second year player Lavoy Allen, who was also re-signed will come off the bench for the Sixers. Allen, who after hearing Coach Collins statement came back with a very note worthy quote, “Coach says that now.”

The increased minutes in the playoffs, the new contract for Allen and this great quote makes you believe that Allen is hungry for a starting job. Was it wrong for Coach Collins to immediately hand Brown the starting job? Or does Coach Collins believe that by keeping him hungry and keeping the pressure off, Lavoy Allen will excel?

Allen showed us some talent in the playoff run averaging 6.3 points and 5 boards in just under 20 minutes a game. I have written previously that I am not too thrilled with the starting five as planned today. By mid-season if Coach Collins’ approach is correct we might find Allen in the starting lineup. Allen believes he has the talent, you can hear this in the confident quote, “Coach says that now.”Similar Posts:
