The Philadelphia 76ers announced earlier on July 31, 2012, the signing of rookie free agent guard and local basketball product Maalik Wayns.
Sources say; the deal is for one-year around $500,000.
After going undrafted during this year’s NBA Draft, Wayns’ accepted his invitation to play point guard for the Orlando Magic in the 2012 Orlando Pro Summer League, and showed his Philly toughness in front of numerous NBA scouts.
The former Villanova Wildcat played and started in three games for the Magic, averaging 11.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.33 steals in a little less than 27 minutes a game.
Wayns now has an opportunity this upcoming season to show why the other 29 NBA teams will regret passing on him.
Wayns was a four-year star player for Roman Catholic High School (2005-09), and was a McDonald’s All-American.

Shortly after being introduced as the new head coach of the Orlando Magic on Monday, Jacque Vaughn shared what he felt was the best piece of advice he received in the days leading up to him accepting his first head-coaching job.
Get good people around you, the 37-year-old former NBA point guard Vaughn said. Its as simple as that.
Wise words, indeed, from the nameless mentor. But...
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Jacque Vaughn says he's "humbled" to become the Magic's next head coach and that he's excited to lead the team next season, no matter what Orlando's roster looks in the face of Dwight Howard's unsolved status.
Vaughn was named the 10th coach in franchise history over the weekend and was officially introduced in a news conference...
The first player Jacque Vaughn likely talked to as he introduced himself to his new team was the only player at Amway Center on Monday afternoon. Glen Davis was hanging around the back of the press conference and met with Vaughn afterward. Davis snuck out before the majority of the media could talk with him, but he spoke with John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com and gave a ringing endorsement...
Dwight Howard is still a member of the Orlando Magic.
It would have been hard to predict that with the acrimonious dialogue between the franchise and the Magic since the end of last season. It seems like reports had Howard out of Orlando on at least two occassions this offseason.
Yet, when Orlando could not find any offers it liked in late June, the Magic put the trade talks...

It is not quite a trade involving Dwight Howard, but the Magic have begun moving forward toward their uncertain future. The Magic hired Spurs assistant coach Jacque Vaughn to be their head coach.
This is not a move that likely will convince Dwight Howard to rescind his trade request. After all, Vaughn has only two years of coaching experience and he is not (as far as we know) the...
The television home of the Orlando Magic, FOX Sports Florida, will be covering the Orlando Magic Press Conference LIVE today at 2 p.m. to introduce their new head coach Jacque Vaughn.
On Saturday afternoon, the Magic announced that they had tabbed Vaughn, who spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs and was a member of their 2006-07 NBA World Championship...
There is no doubting that Lebron James has been scrutinized over the last two years. From his controversial “the decision” special to his telling fans that they have to “wake up to their lives tomorrow” after being eliminated from the NBA finals last year, Lebron James has not made many fans outside of South Beach.
This year however things changed. There was a “passing...
DALLAS Mavs GM Donnie Nelson and Magic GM Orlando GM Rob Hennigan visited last week about a Dwight Howard trade and "will probably talk again,'' Nelson tells FOXSportsSouthwest.com. Meanwhile, Dwight and the Magic seem done visiting. Does this move Dwight-to-Dallas closer to the front burner? Or is is simply a step towards Dallas becoming the favorite to sign the disgruntled...
