Sixers Sign Primoz Brezec, Gangster

What could possibly get you excited about the Sixers signing Slovenian center Primoz Brezec? How about this tidbit in March of 2008 courtesy of Hoops World from his then coach Sam Mitchell:

"Rasho (Nesterovic) told me that when Primoz's first came to the United States he learned his English, I don't know the words, but let's just say everything starts with gangster and ends with pimp. I don't know who he was around or what movies he was watching  –  and I don't even think my name is coach or Sam anymore, it's either gangster or –  I'm just going to say gangster because I'm not going to use the last part."

Which begs the question: is Eddie Jordan more of a gangster or a pimp?

Then there's this fun anecdote from around the same time period in Toronto.

[...] a spy sitting courtside tells me during one timeout the Magaic mascot, a not particularly fearsome looking dragon, was goofing around near the Raptor bench.

Seems Primoz Brezec, for some reason known only to Primoz Brezec, took great umbrage at a stuffed animal having fun and slugged the thing. Then he tells him, ‘bleep you, I’ll bleep you up.’

Bush league, if you ask me.

But do Slovenians hate rabbits as much as dragons? Remains to be seen.

Brezec was most recently playing in Italy but his last stint in the NBA was with the Raptors.
