Skip Bayless writing lead columns for ESPN.com, sadly, is becoming a trend that looks like it's here to stay.
For reasons unbeknownst to anyone outside the Bristol bubble, ESPN has once again chosen Skip Bayless to talk about an important sports topic outside of Tim Tebow and LeBron James. This time, it's a column on this year's Heisman race arguing for Manti Te'o over Johnny Manziel. Because Bayless and First Take has followed college football so closely all season long apparently. Even though Pat Forde and Bruce Feldman moved on, there's still a number of talented college football writers at ESPN.com that should get this kind of prime column real estate, but ESPN seems to be giving more opportunities to their debaters instead of the real experts these days.
I'll spare us all from a full-scale takedown because there's only so much Skip Bayless AA can take on before I begin to question my purpose in life. But it was these two paragraphs from Bayless that led me to stare blankly at my laptop screen for several hours trying to comprehend the logic of what I had just read (bolded emphasis added)...
"You will find no bigger media fan of Manziel's than I am. I was skeptical last year, as he redshirted, when newspaper friends in Texas told me longtime high school reporters called Manziel the most amazing prep player they'd ever watched. That's a mouthful, podnah.
Yet after watching Manziel start to finish in five games this season (Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama and Missouri), I'm ready to say he'll win two of the next three Heismans, at least. But he shouldn't win this year's. Te'o should, and it shouldn't be close. In fact, I'm embarrassed over the sudden media hysteria to elect a two-loss Johnny Football over an undefeated Manti Football."
That's Skip Bayless proclaiming himself as the biggest media fan of Johnny Football while at the same time saying he's embarrassed over the media's love for Johnny Football in the Heisman vote. Sportswriting simply does not get better. This is the age old trick of punditry - if you can be for and against something, you can never be wrong.
Clearly, Bayless is plotting his next move for when Tim Tebow's NFL career comes to an anti-climactic end. It's only a matter of time before he takes on Johnny Football as his next project. (Please Lord, don't let ESPN and the national media do to Johnny Manziel what they did to Tim Tebow.)
And just for good measure, let's make sure Skip Bayless has found some way to make the Heisman race all about him and Tim Tebow in some bizarre way...
"As a Tim Tebow supporter, I love it that Manziel believes in Tebow and even retweeted my #FreeTebow campaign hashtag."
Good, everything appears to be in order then.

There are so many trick shot videos floating around the internet these days that it’s only natural to be a bit skeptical every time you see one. Considering the star of this one is only 8 years old, we’re willing to forget all the things we’ve heard about people faking it and give him the benefit of the doubt. The video you see above, which was recently posted on LeBronJames...
Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we have shown you some classic fan tattoos dedicated to players and teams.Check out this awesome LeBron James calf tattoo sported by Miami Heat fan and I'll be honest, the detail is pretty insane:(Courtesy of NBA Mistress)
MIAMI (AP) -- LeBron James is atop the NBA's jersey sales list again.
The Miami Heat star has the league's hottest-selling jersey, marking the third time the NBA's reigning MVP and Finals MVP has held that distinction. James was No. 4 in the most recent rankings, released in April.
Since then, all he's done is win his third league MVP award, a second Olympic gold...
MIAMI -- The NBA must have gotten bored with naming LeBron James Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
The Miami Heat star had won it the two previous times, and averaged 29.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in two wins last week. But he lost out Monday to Atlanta center Al Horford, who averaged 16.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a 4-0 week.
"The game has so...
So it looks like it is OK to like LeBron James again.
After spending the better part of two years in just about everybody’s doghouse, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player and now-defending NBA champion was back at the top of the list of top-selling jerseys, signaling that the league’s best player apparently is popular again.
James replaced Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, who...
LeBron James has the top-selling NBA jersey for the first time since April 2011.
MIAMI LeBron James scores, passes, rebounds and plays defense. Apparently, he also breaks news.
The Miami Heat offered no timetable Monday on how long forward Shane Battier might be out due to a knee injury. Then James stepped up to talk with the media.
Unfortunately, were not going to have him for the next few games, James said of Battier.
James later backtracked a bit. But...
Earlier this week we revealed Nike’s rumored line-up of Christmas shoes for Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant. One shoe in particular, the Nike Zoom KD V “Christmas”, has only been photographed once and the picture was mediocre in quality. But now thanks to JC1992 of Niketalk, we finally have detailed images of the KD V “Christmas”. This shoe combines a mixture...
One thing is certain about athletes and celebrities in general, they love being acknowledged by other stars. Lebron James is no different. Monday night King James was spotted at 2 Chainz’s – wait, I hope you said that with the correct cadence- B.O.A.T.S. tour at Miami’s Fillmore. James hopped onstage with 2 Chainz, Lil [...]

LeBron James Jr. or “Bronie” obviously has some of daddy’s skills. Check him out hitting this shot from the balcony. Awww that’s cute. More NBA junior cuteness, Chris Paul’s son, lil chris had him working on his game when the Clippers returned from their road trip the other night. Smart move. Clippers are currently [...]
OKLAHOMA CITY Maybe it's because Russell Westbrook is struggling and former running mate James Harden is gone, but Kevin Durant is getting back to his old self.
It's not like anyone was concerned Durant was in a slump, but his slow-scoring start was notable.
But that's changed. And so have the Thunder.
The three-time scoring champion is looking more familiar, and...
GRINNELL, Iowa (AP) -- Jack Taylor's encore for his record-setting performance was OK, just nowhere near his previous game.
Taylor scored 21 points, but Grinnell College lost 131-116 to William Penn on Sunday night. The Black River Falls, Wis., native was 6 for 21 from the field, making 3 of 13 attempts from 3-point range, in the first loss of the season for the Pioneers (3-1...
