Keith Smart took over Sacramento under some very strange circumstances. The very public spat between Paul Westphal and DeMarcus Cousins eventually cost the veteran coach his job and brought Keith Smart back to the forefront for his second head coaching sting in the league. The Kings were not going to blow the doors open and make the Playoffs. The roster is too young, plus you had the uncertainty over the team's future in Sacramento to deal with. Still, Smart did a nice job keeping the team together in the wake of that potential disaster and got the players to trust him quickly. Sacramento is 10-21 since Smart took over, but wins are not the most important thing at this point in the rebuilding process. Sacramento believed Smart was doing a good enough jobt perhaps repairing some of those bridges and developing those young player to keep him around... at least for the 2012-13 season. On Monday, the Kings signed Keith Smart through the end of next season, assuring some form of ...

More thoughts on our beloved dip$%^&$

There are things with the Kings, as frustrated as I was tonight with this Kings group, that are worth nothing above and beyond the frustrating losses. So after the jump, here are my thoughts regarding the rest of the season starting with Denver.   First if you don't understand the beloved reference, it means beloved ********. Long time readers probably guessed, but that...

Let the Curry Simmer, then Sell it for Dinner.

Stephen Curry returned to the court Monday, dropping 12 points and a pair of treys in just nine minutes off the bench. Why is this significant? Well first off, it is just over 180 times longer than his three-second appearance on Wednesday. But more importantly, it is a sign that the boy with the wooden ankles is about to return for real real. Now one of two things will happen; Curry’s...

C-Webb mentoring Cousins

In case you haven't been watching the Sacramento Kings, and there's a decent chance you haven't, DeMarcus Cousins has been a revelation since head coach Paul Westphal was fired.  Cousins has said repeatedly how much he enjoys playing for new coach Keith Smart.  But he's not the only one helping Cousins turn himself in to the Kings' best player.  As Ken Helin...

Warriors’ Rookies Ready When Called On

In an unorthodox year marked by a cramped schedule and a slew of injuries, the young guards of the Golden State Warriors have had to learn to expect the unexpected. When Klay Thompson and Charles Jenkins were picked up by the Warriors in the 2011 NBA Draft, they could not have expected to have major roles in a backcourt that features one of the best shooters—Stephen Curry—and...

Game 39: New Orleans Hornets at Kings

2 bad teams square off at Arco for the 2nd time this season. The Kings won the last game when Marcus Thornton and Tyreke Evans got hot. Oh and there was this other little dramedy moment of Westphal telling Cousins to go home. Since then, Westphal got canned, Cousins has behaved much more often under Keith Smart, Smart had his option for next season picked up, and the Kings are still...

Warriors 120, Wizards 100

Monta Ellis scored 25 points and Klay Thompson added 18 to lead the Golden State Warriors in a 120-100 rout of the Washington Wizards on Monday night. David Lee had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which had six players in double figures. Ellis was 10 for 16 from the floor and didn't play at all in the fourth quarter as both teams rested their starters. The Warriors...
