PLAYERS: C.J. Watson
TEAMS: Brooklyn Nets
C.J. Watson will opt out of the final year of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets, thereby becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1, a league source confirmed. Watson signed a two-year contract with a player option for the second year before the 2012-13 season. In terms of free agent contracts, the Nets are limited to the veteran’s minimum because they are over the salary cap.

Nets coach Kidd has pending DWI case

Jason Kidd, who was hired to coach the Brooklyn Nets just days after retiring as a player, has a court date next week in New York stemming from a drunken driving arrest last year. Kidd has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DWI and other charges. A spokesman for prosecutors in Suffolk County on eastern Long Island confirms that Kidd is due in Southampton Town Court on June 20. Nets Make Smart Move In Hiring J-Kidd As New Bench Boss

The Brooklyn Nets may have hired the next hot young coach in the Association on Thursday as they announced on the team website, that they have chosen former Nets star Jason Kidd to be their next bench boss. There are very few men that could retire from the NBA and days later become a head coach for another franchise; however Kidd should have no trouble in his new role. As a premier...

The NBA’s 10 Youngest Active Head Coaches

With the appointment of recently retired Jason Kidd as the Brooklyn Nets’ head coach some folks have been wondering where Jason Kidd stands on the list of young NBA coaches. Will he be the youngest coach in the NBA? Not quite. Here’s the list. Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Head coach: No experience needed

The guys who get hired to coach NBA teams seem to come in about four varieties: the legends, the coaching lifers, college coaches and former players who still are young enough to seem vaguely cool (or at least familiar) to current players. The latest NBA coaching hire fell into that final category. The Brooklyn Nets hired Jason Kidd, who retired so recently he probably still has...

Jason Kidd Offers Lawrence Frank job as Assistant Coach

According to a story via Mike Mazzeo of ESPN, newly-appointed Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd, has reached out to his former coach to serve as his assistant. Frank was fired by the Detroit Pistons earlier in the year after a disappointing tenure with the team, and is currently at home looking after his wife...

Do NBA Teams Have A Coaching Bias Against Big Men?

The internets and the media world had plenty to talk about earlier this week when the Brooklyn Nets decided to name Jason Kidd as the head coach. While many around the NBA world were happy for the point God to land a head coaching gig immediately after playing 19 seasons in the Association, there are [...]The post Do NBA Teams Have A Coaching Bias Against Big Men? appeared first...

Why the Hiring of Jason Kidd Should Make Nets Fans Irate

While we’ve admitted to being a Cleveland sports fan—trust us, that’s a BIG move to do—we pride ourselves for not waking up this morning and saying we’re a Brooklyn Nets supporter. On top of supporting a team who used to play in Jersey—you know, the armpit of America?—the organization’s top guns decided that a recently [...]

Check out some photos of Jason Kidd's introductory press conference as the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.

Jason Kidd, an NBA coach to root for in next year’s NFL draft

Well, JP, Mikhail Prokhorov was not Kidd-ing about hiring Jason Kidd as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets (still feels weird to me). His hiring will be announced at a press conference this afternoon. This will, I guess somewhat obviously, be the recently retired Kidd’s first coaching job. There is a natural inclination to think that a PG is sort of a natural to become a head...
