San Antonio Spurs
SAN ANTONIO -- Danny Green started things off for the San Antonio Spurs, and their Big Three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili finished things off, as the Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 122-116 at the AT&T Center Friday night. Green, who had only scored in double figures one in the last five games entering Friday, scored 14 first quarter points, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range. He finished with 17 points, all in the first half. With Green's start, the Spurs seemed poised to make easy work of the Rockets, building a 15-point lead in the first quarter. The Spurs tied a season-high for a quarter with 41 points, and scored a season-high 69 points in the first half. But the Rockets, led by James Harden's 33 points, were able to fight back. And it was a wild, back-and-forth game from then on. The two Interstate 10 foes kept a frenetic pace from that point out. Parker led the Spurs with 31 points, Duncan scored 30 and Ginobili added 23 points. Duncan als...

Former Spurs star and current team broadcaster Sean Elliott was named as one of San Antonio's top 100 residential water users in a list published by the city.
San Antonio Spurs fans know one side of Matt Bonner -- the guy at the 3-point line ready to launch a shot.
Outside of the court, the "Red Rocket" is a far different personality and if you've seen his "Coach B" videos, that personality is a little on the goofier side of life.
Nadia Bonner, Matt's wife of four years, gave an interview with UnionLeader...
The San Antonio Spurs couldn't keep the Houston Rockets from giving them a tough game, even while scoring 41 points in the first quarter. Tim Duncan's (quiet) mission wasn't as difficult.
Tim Duncan made history in the first quarter by blocking Omer Asik and moving up the ladder in the NBA all-time blocks list by passing Tree Rollins. Duncan is now eighth all-time...
The San Antonio Spurs have gone away from the defensive, shutdown philosophy that made them so successful in the past. It’s not a huge problem because they’ve improved the offense as well and can still win by outscoring their opponents, but on the year, the Spurs are giving up 97 points per game.
One reason the Spurs could be giving up so many points is the fact that Kawhi...
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined to score 84 points, and the San Antonio Spurs snapped the Houston Rockets' five-game winning streak with a 122-116 victory on Friday night.
Parker had 31 points and 10 assists, Duncan had 30 points and five rebounds, and Ginobili had a season-high 23 points for San Antonio (23-8). Danny Green was 5 for 7...

The San Antonio Spurs (22-8) and Houston Rockets (16-12) got things underway in San Antonio in a Texas sized showdown and it was a tale of two quarters.
Here is the first half recap.
Stat Leader: Danny Green with 14 points, and 2 rebounds.
Recap: The Spurs hot shooting from the three-point line continued as the team rained down threes in the quarter...
During the San Antonio Spurs contest with the Houston Rockets last night, Stephen Jackson found Tim Duncan in the paint for an easy dunk.
In the second quarter, Tony Parker lost control of the ball but Jackson was on the spot to steal the ball from Houston's Cole Aldridge and make a behind-the-back pass to Duncan for two of his 30 points with a dunk on Aldridge.
Check it out.
If you love an up tempo high scoring game, you'd love the highlights to the third game of four meetings between the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets. If you believe in defense first, then this wasn't the game for you.
The Spurs were once seen as a defensive juggernaut that wanted the final score to be in the low 80s if possible, but this year it's the opposite...
Gary Neal has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dallas Mavericks:
Gary Neal did not travel to Dallas with the team and will not play tomorrow vs. the Mavericks (@spurs on Twitter)
Neal was also out against the Houston Rockets also. The San Antonio Spurs seemed to not need him with their surplus of guards (mostly point guards), which is a good sign...
The matchup of the game for Friday night's game between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets is Tony Parker vs Jeremy Lin.
With James Harden out last game between the two clubs, Lin had a ridiculous game against the Spurs that saw him score 38 points and dish out 7 assists. The Spurs got the win though behind Parker's triple double of 27 points, 12 assists, and 12...
As good as the San Antonio Spurs have been offensively, that success has not carried to the road recently.
The Spurs are seeking their third five-game winning streak of the season but also looking to avoid a fifth straight road loss when they try to beat the slumping Dallas Mavericks for the second consecutive Sunday night.
After a strong defensive effort led to a 100-80 win over...
The San Antonio Spurs went “bombs away” on the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, hitting 20 3-pointers against their I-35 rival. They came close to the NBA record of 23, but even if they didn’t make history, it was a very impressive showing.
Leading the charge was guard Danny Green, who went 7-8 from outside, leading all scorers in the game with 25 points.
It was great to...
The second returns for the All-Star game are in and it's not looking good for the San Antonio Spurs and their fan base.
The Big 3 from the Spurs are behind by a large number of votes for the starting spots. The All-Star game is known for a popularity contest over being a legitimate honor for performances (like when Yao Ming kept getting voted in when he was injured). These...
The matchup of the night for the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks game on the Mavs' homecourt is between Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki.
This will be Dirk's 4th game back and he hasn't shot well, only hitting 32% of his shots so far (he went 3-4 in his first game back against San Antonio). He'll still be looking to find his conditioning on the court, but he...
