It’s no surprise that DeJuan Blair may be moved prior to the trade deadline on February 21. The San Antonio Spurs have been shopping him for quite some time, and nearly traded him in June. In the days leading up to the 2012 NBA Draft, the Spurs spoke to a number of teams about the 23-year-old big man. They nearly sent Blair to the Miami HEAT, but the deal fell apart. Now, San Antonio is once again shopping Blair and seeing what teams are willing to offer. Over the offseason, Blair worked hard and lost a lot of weight, hoping to return to the Spurs’ rotation. However, he’s once again playing limited minutes, especially in the last month. With the Spurs signing Australian big man Aron Baynes on Wednesday, it seems that Blair’s days in San Antonio are numbered. They’ll likely cash him in before the deadline rather than letting him walk as a free agent next summer.   via HoopsWorld

Stephen Jackson loses cool, gets ejected

Stephen Jackson had 14 points in a San Antonio Spurs win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. If you saw the game, that good performance Jackson had was overshadowed by him losing his cool in the 4th quarter with less than four minutes to go. Jackson was upset that he didn't get a call from the referee against Kobe Bryant which would've given him two free...

Bloomberg says he pushed Jackson

Stephen Jackson returned to the San Antonio Spurs’ lineup on Monday against the New Orleans Hornets after missing a game with a sprained ankle. His injury was one of the more bizarre ones in the NBA. Jackson sprained his ankle when he fell over a waitress who was serving New York mayor Michael Bloomberg on the sideline at Madison Square Garden during the Spurs game against...

NBA Ref admits he’s stalling for a TV commercial

Well this is awkward.  NBA ref Billy Kennedy called over Mark D’Antoni and Gregg Popovich in the Los Angeles Lakers-San Antonio Spurs game to tell him that TV thought the Lakers called a 20-second timeout when they had really called a full-timeout.  This led to Kennedy saying that he was meeting with them to stall for TV, but little did he know they were already back and this...

Coach Popovich discusses Lakers, defends D’Antoni

Once an elite NBA power, though it’s still not too late, the 15-19 depleted Los Angeles Lakers have flown into San Antonio to visit the (27-10) San Antonio Spurs. With the Lakers comes a lot of media, only Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich doesn’t really pay too much attention to what’s going on out in Hollywood. “I don’t think about it,” said Coach Pop when asked...

San Antonio Spurs End 2012 With 82-37 Record

Eighty-two wins and 37 losses in a calendar year is not bad for some old guys. But there’s no championship or NBA Finals appearance to show for it, so far. The strike-shortened season of 2011-12 created an unusual schedule, with games bundled more closely on the sports calendar. The Spurs were 47-15 in the regular season (50-16 overall, counting games before 2012 began) and 10...

Referee Bill Kennedy admits ‘I’m stalling right now’ as Lakers-Spurs were supposed to have TV timeout

NBA fans watching the Los Angeles Lakers-San Antonio Spurs game on Wednesday caught a glimpse of what goes on behind-the-scenes during a typical TV timeout. With 5:09 left in the game and a break in the action, ESPN ran a promo for the second game of its double-header. The teams lined up for the Spurs to inbound the ball, but the referees stopped to see if they should break for...

Spurs survive Lakers fourth quarter rally

"I thought we were really raggedy on offense to the point where I didn’t know who was out on the court. I didn’t recognize the basketball team. Not sharing the ball the way we should. Taking bad shots, contested shots, no pace, was really tough to watch.” That may sound like the San Antonio Spurs had a tough night in which they lost, but those are the words of Spurs...
